Broadside uda Barn 0 Posted December 25, 2009 (edited) Bought and am dl'ing HitR now. I held off until now, partly because of the limited downloads of the xpack. My life's been uber busy lately, and I dont have much time for OFF, tho I have flown a bit of RoF , which is nice for a quick flight. I didnt want to buy the xpack until I had the time to dl and install it and then burn it to a cd and play a little. I likely wont have much chance to play it, but I'll make sure it's running OK today. I guess the point I'm trying to make is: I would have bought the xpack right away, were it not for the limit. I whole heartedly DISAGREE with having to pay for future downloads...and was torn: I want to support OBD's efforts, especially in light of future additions to OFF, even tho I'm pretty much not interested at all in the xpack. My appreciation for OBD won out and I'm paying for the xpack, despite my lack of interest. (EDIT: to clarify: I'm not interested in the new planes all that much. I AM interested in the updated graphics, and wind effects.) It's my hope that future expansions will NOT have a download limit. I've bought quite a few programs via digital download, GoG, steam, and impulse/stardock. Each of these media allow me to download my purchases into the future with no added cost. Why should I have to pay, or even burn a CD in case of future needs? (and only 2 weeks to download, with a 3 time limit? seriously? SERIOUSLY?? ) Likely there are quite a few things that forced this result, and I dont need to know what they are. I'm disgruntled, but appreciate your fine work OBD. Hopefully this wont be an issue with future releases, and I can just buy them immediately, regardless of the time frame issues I may be facing. Broadside uda Barn 0 Posted December 25, 2009 and, just for the record, HatR flies great, and looks very good. Actually had a burning hanger, with a couple of smoking planes on my airfield in a scramble mission. And, the EV is great. Good work OBD!
+Polovski 460 Posted December 25, 2009 Thanks Broadside, in the future we probably can but then we have to look at different ways to protect OFF. All methods have good and bad points.
JimAttrill 24 Posted December 25, 2009 Like some others I bought HitR mainly to support the Development team who are doing a great job for very little. I have had a go in the DH5, just for the fun of it. I don't worry about the download limit because I downloaded it once and wrote it instantly to a CD - one with the SuperPatch, the minipatch G and HitR on it. So with the original DVD and this CD I can completely reinstall OFF.

themightysrc 5 Posted December 25, 2009 A bit naughty, I know, but I download any patches and add ons at work - safe forever on the server... then I put them on a memory stick and home they come. However, I would appreciate more than 3 attempted downloads, just in case... HitR is well worth the money and time taken, but I've said that before.
Broadside uda Barn 0 Posted December 25, 2009 I'm very happy with the value of HitR. This is just a fantastic sim that keeps getting better.
