BirdDogICT 3 Posted January 28, 2010 Mine starts, but I'm on a 32-bit system. Same here, 32-bit. I have to start TrackIR5 manually, and the camera won't turn on the first the first time I start the program. Have to close the program and restart for it to work right. Haven't taken the time to sort out the problem, so am using TrackIR4 software instead.
Olham 164 Posted January 28, 2010 Don't know anything about programs, but my KASPERSKI Anit Virus always pops up an alarm, saying, that the TrackIR 5 program had similarity with a malware. I have to confirm each time, that I want to start it anyway. Not sure if it has something to do with that, but you could try to switch your virus protection off, and try it then. After all, it isn't much of a problem to start it manually.
sitting_duck 3 Posted January 28, 2010 Ahhh,,,thanks for the heads up on that birddog...its been happening to me too, but ive been switching usb ports... guess its back to trackir4...this is way to much of a pain in the ass...
Hasse Wind 46 Posted January 28, 2010 Yeah, I have to start it manually too, and it won't sometimes recognize my head movements, which can only be solved by restarting the program. But I haven't gone back to the older software, because the results I see in-game are better with the new version. Movements are smoother and more natural. For that I'm willing to go through some trouble at the start.
Olham 164 Posted January 28, 2010 On my older rig (Win XP) I had to start TrackIR 5 twice, to get it accepted. But after that it worked fine, and is much smoother than TrackIR 4.
catch 81 Posted January 28, 2010 No problems here. I use T5 s/w with T4 h/w on XP-32. Fires up everytime I hit the airfield. I like the T5 s/w as it gives a greater arc of head movement than T4 imo and appears to be smoother. I don't use tailored profiles for OFF or anything else. The T5 default works fine for me. I have to confirm each time, that I want to start it anyway. I get this same warning with my Kasperski (TIR4 S/W though) Despite the warning, the TIP S/W starts on startup OK Maybe I have a lower security setting ...think I went with the default settings
sitting_duck 3 Posted January 29, 2010 Suppose i could have just tried a shortcut to trackir in my start, but decided to go this route. Its best explained in this site. http://forums.techguy.org/windows-xp/492106-open-2-progs-w-one.html I made this text file, and saved it as trackir5.bat, and put it in the start menu. This is pretty much a gaming system, so i want trackir running when i start the computer. start "" "C:\Program Files (x86)\NaturalPoint\TrackIR5\TrackIR5.exe" so far its started trackir5 everytime the computer starts. If you didnt want it to start with the computer, but where tired of the dbl starting, you could make a text file like this, start "" "C:\Program Files (x86)\NaturalPoint\TrackIR5\TrackIR5.exe" start "" "C:\Program Files (x86)\NaturalPoint\TrackIR5\TrackIR5.exe" and save it as a .bat file somewhere, then make a shortcut to the desktop. you will get a window saying trackir is already running obviously, but when i tried it on my computer, the camera initialsized every time. The syntax itself is pretty handy for starting multiple apps with one shortcut. In some cases, the bat file must reside in the apps folder or it doesnt work... ie. if you want offmanager and trackir to start at the same time, you have to put the bat file for the startup in cfsww1 directory, or you get a slew of font errors...
