There are now so many ACE skins . . any suggestions on a good way to preview them?? I dont suppose anyone has put together a PDF/DOC with screenies of them they wish to share <grin>. Right now I use the Quick Combat/Freeflight and select a skin. But that is a painfully slow method. There HAS to be a better way. Or some program that can view them externally (easily).

Hi Kamikaze

What you want is DXT.bmp

You will find it here

http://www.mnwright.btinternet.co.uk/

(you will find it under 'CFS3' Utilities)

To view the skins, the path is

C:\OBDSoftware\CFSWW1 Over Flanders Fields\campaigns\CampaignData\skins

Although this does'nt show the aircraft as you would see in game (there is currently no 3d viewer)..it does show you all the Skins

The Skins are in .DDS format..and Nvidia also do a DDS viewer which is excellent too

Just downloaded and installed "irfanview", and I must say, it's great to browse

through the skins in there! Thank you, Sandbagger, for the tip!

One note: make sure you also download the complete plugins package.

I got to that by starting the installed "Irfanview", and click on "help".

You can get to their site, where you can download it then.

Excellent! I knew I could count on the OFF community for suggestions :salute:

Viewing the files in "skin" format is not problem. I've edited a few skins in my day to be able to deal with this <grin>. My issue was figuring an easy viewing method to see what was done to each one. I'm at work now . . but will check these methods out tonight when I get home.

Excellent tips! Thanks again!

Ah yes!.. Irfanview is good (hopeless for taking screenshots in OFF though)...anyone remember the one I took with just the pilot in the air?...that was care of Irfanview

Also press T when viewing one with Irfanview and it brings up thumbnails. You can adjust the size of these to taste, then you can scroll through quickly top find and still get a good impression when hunting for a particular pattern whatever.
