Olham 164 Posted March 15, 2010 For Hasse Wind, our honorable reconnaisanz and bomber pilot, who iss fyink one mission after zee ozzer, indefatigably, for ze Kaiser and ze Fazzerland!
Hasse Wind 46 Posted March 15, 2010 Excellent pics, Olham. Good DFW photos seem to be very rare, especially when you consider that it was a great 2-seater, popular with the pilots and the most produced German aircraft of the war. And it's a pleasure to fly in OFF, too, and if you stay high, no Allied fighter will ever get you. Bomben los!
Morris 2 Posted March 15, 2010 Those Pictures are saved on my HD. Thanx Olham. m
Rickitycrate 10 Posted March 15, 2010 Very good pics. I will need to get myself a cockpit pooch too.
RAF_Louvert 101 Posted March 15, 2010 . Great pics Olham, I've never seen either of these before. And notice that very high gloss finish on the wings in the second picture, almost like a mirror. Thanks for sharing Sir. .
Olham 164 Posted March 15, 2010 Yes, that glossy finish could just be clear varnish. After cleaning the surfaces a lot, or after surface damage, they may have overpainted them with a new coat?
ConradB 0 Posted March 17, 2010 Also, the lacquer paint used by Germany in WWI and WWII had a "sheen" to it until it weathered a bit in the elements. Lacquer paint also likes to shine when rubbed down, especially with rubbing compound. My old 1965 Mustang was painted with lacquer, and it oxidized and dulled. A little rubbing compound and elbow grease, and it looked like it did right out of the booth.

Hasse Wind 46 Posted March 17, 2010 Exactly, Widowmaker. And notice that cross somebody has drawn above the observer in the lower picture? I wonder what it means.
Olham 164 Posted March 17, 2010 Yep - it could mean: this is me, the one with the cross. Or: this observer is dead...
