If you live in another country to your birth country you do not disrespect that country by tarnishing / damaging the flag of your adopted country no matter what... It's pure bad manners and brings down your own countrymen... and to do it to a Flag raised to the 9/11 victims is disgusting in my opinion...

I agree with some posts on the CNN blog. Deportation to Canada would be fine. Especially in some places like Ellesmere Island where their beloved Canadian flag will never be burnt and will always proudly float straight horizontal... due to ice!

Just like those woman US hockey players who stepped on the Canadian flag. They should have to apologize to the Canadian people publicly may even have be banned from playing. There is no excuse on the planet for anyone to do this ever with a close friend and ally.

Have the person who burned it EAT and gulp the ashes of the flag!

The only winners in these incidents are the guys who make and sell the flags.

You could open a flammable US flag store in the Middle East and retire from all the sales you'd get. No excuse for that in the west.
