Guest Raden Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 (edited) I refer to my post some 60 minutes ago, as follow: http://forum.combata...decals-problem/ After AGAIN DL-ing the nice skin for the Indonesian Flanker from the DL Section here, and the Su-27 (j111) Chinese using the Link here too (since MarcFighters refused to open in my laptop, unclickable), I installed them both WITHOUT making any changes, except for the NAME of Indoneshia (with the "h") in Texture inside of the Skin package Indo from here. Still, NO decals of the TNI-AU in the fuselage appear. What could be the possible culprits??? Help please............... BTW, these are the details from the DL: The DECAL [Decal001] MeshName=Right_Vstab DecalLevel=2 DecalFacing=RIGHT FilenameFormat=Su-27SK/indo/d/ts27 Position=-5.5,1.0 Rotation=0.0 Scale=0.7 DecalMaxLOD=3 [Decal002] MeshName=Left_Vstab DecalLevel=2 DecalFacing=LEFT FilenameFormat=Su-27SK/indo/d/ts27 Position=-5.5,1.0 Rotation=0.0 Scale=0.7 DecalMaxLOD=3 [Decal003] MeshName=Fuselage DecalLevel=2 DecalFacing=Left FilenameFormat=Su-27SK/indo/d/rbn Position=5.80,0.85 Scale=0.75 DecalMaxLOD=3 [Decal004] MeshName=Fuselage DecalLevel=2 DecalFacing=Right FilenameFormat=Su-27SK/indo/d/rbn Position=5.80,0.85 Scale=0.75 DecalMaxLOD=3 [Decal005] MeshName=Fuselage DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=Left FilenameFormat=Su-27SK/indo/d/indo Position= 1.20,1.05 Rotation=-5.0 Scale=0.80 DecalMaxLOD=3 [Decal006] MeshName=Fuselage DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=Right FilenameFormat=Su-27SK/indo/d/indoni Position= 1.70,1.12 Rotation=5.0 Scale=0.30 DecalMaxLOD=3 [Decal007] MeshName=Fuselage DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=Left FilenameFormat=Su-27SK/indo/d/indoni Position= 1.70,1.12 Rotation=-5.0 Scale=0.30 DecalMaxLOD=3 [Decal008] MeshName=Fuselage DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=Right FilenameFormat=Su-27SK/indo/d/indo Position= 1.20,1.05 Rotation=5.0 Scale=0.80 DecalMaxLOD=3 The TextureSet: [TextureSet] Name=indo Nation=Indonesia-------------------------> the Original reads as indoneshia (with an "h" that it will not correspond with the NAME in Data.ini) Specular=0.300000 Glossiness=0.200000 Reflection=0.000000 The NEW Flanker just installed: My thanks to ur replies n help. +sony tuckson Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 is the decal valid, did you check it by positioning it at another's place? Quote
Guest Raden Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 Do you have the decals in teh decals folder? Thanks Dave. Please let me check it out first for a sec. Will be back soon... Quote
Guest Raden Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 (edited) Thanks Dave. Please let me check it out first for a sec. Will be back soon... To Sony thanks as well. Dave, it is inside of the Aircraft, I mean, the Su-27SK J111 folder just under (not the inside of) only Cockpit File Folder. Which do u mean the Decal folder? Is it the one INSIDE of the INDO skin folder with only letter D?I even check its Save As Option as I know in SF2 the TextureSet must be saved as ANSI when used in SF1. But the Skin TNI-AU is only for SF1. And it is already in ANSI f.y.i. No Sony, I have not tried to place the Indo folder in any other place but that one I indicated above. For sure, last time BEFORE I upgrade to WIN XP Pro 32Bits, I had it (the Decal) OK. I really do not understand this. I shall try perhaps u two trick? Place it where? Thanks again gentlemen. Guest Raden Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 What folders are in your objects folder? Under the OBJECTS Folder are, currently, as I cannot use anymore to check in WOE Disk if it is correct or not: - Aircraft - Ground Objects - Weapon some dot dll files, 12 of them I need time to itemize here. Also just now, added after DL-ing: BulletObject and MissileObject, I suspect they must be under other proper Folder which? And, Objectdata Security Cat. That's all Dave. Quote
+Dave Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 Ok if you are fully patched you need a folder called "Decals" in your objects folder. Inside that folder make another folder called "Su-27SK". Then make another folder in side that called "indo" in that and drop the D folder with the decals in there. Let me know. Quote
Guest Raden Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 Thanks Dave. Please let me check it out first for a sec. Will be back soon... Dave, it's nine minutes to 02.00 a.m. I shall be back tomorrow afternoon. Meanwhile, I jsut created an experiements on it, a NEW Decal Folder inside of the Su-27SK (J111) TNI-AU. So, I changed the Directory under plane dot ini as Decal, Name Indo Here it is, and I shall test fly the Su soon before retiring. +sony tuckson Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 rgr, doesn't really look like it's gonna work please, confirm me, is it for WOE or SF2E? decals for the second series (SF2, SF2V, SF2E, SF2I) need to be stored at a specific place to work go to your main addons folder (exact place is depending on system, if you're under win xp, it should be under "my documents\Thirdwire....." (please soembody, confirm this, mine having been moved, I can't check default path) then, Objects then, Decals then a folder with your plane name (exactly the same as the pain folder for this plane) e.g Su-27SK then a folder with your skin name e.g indo you can drop your decals into that very folder now, the fileformat line should read: FilenameFormat=Su-27SK/indo/indoni for a decal named indoni if you use WOE, decals could even be stored right away in the skin folder...the only trick being in fact to know what the game use as "root" for the fileformat ...("decals" folder in the SF2 series, "aircraft" folder in WOE) Hoping I was clear enough don't forget to adapt level as required Quote
SZTypeTTTO Posted May 25, 2010 Posted May 25, 2010 Greetings Everyone, I seem to have the same trouble with Decals, the decals won't show up on 3rd party skins on 3rd party aircrafts. The fault is my ambiguity of the 'Decals' folder. I play the sim WOI with the Oct 2008 patch (of course with latest weapons pack; who wouldn't ) but I am unable to find the 'Decals' folder under objects. Maybe I require the CAT extraction, or maybe I did not install a certain mod, this is not known to me. A little guidance would be appreciated. Quote
+Wrench Posted May 25, 2010 Posted May 25, 2010 Might be a pathway issue in the decals ini, or mis-installed somehow. WoI, being a 1stGen game, give you 2 options: 1) Decals reside in a /D subfolder of the main skin folder of the aircraft )the bestest,easiest way I think) meaning, the path to the decals would be something like this (a bit long, but it'll illustrate what I mean): Wings Over Isreal/Objects/Aircraft/MiG-17F/EAF/D/num.tga in reality, the game engine is sort of designed to "look into" indivual aircraft folders FIRST, before wandering around and looking elsewhere. that means, in the actual decals ini, for a specific decal, the path would look like this: [Decal011] MeshName=verticalstabilizerA DecalLevel=2 DecalFacing=LEFT FilenameFormat=F-104A RJAF/Silver/D/FLet Position=-4.65,1.65 Rotation=0.0 Scale=1.0 DecalMaxLOD=3 so, defination: F-104A RJAF = aircraft folder name Silver = skin folder name D = decals sub-folder FLet = decal name you can see the descending path, from aircraft folder, to skin folder to decals folder This is a very nice, compact way of doing things; it keeps the entire add-on in one place OTH, several stock aircraft DO make use of the game-provided Objects/Decals folder. For the most part, WoI dosen't. WoE does; a lot of decals are stored in there (A-10s, Harriers, etc) You CAN use the provided /Decals folder, but you'll have to rewrite the pathway in the decals ini. Too much work for my taste. For 1stGen games, it's bestest and easist to keep it all together in the same aircraft folder. For SF2, it's a slighty different story; you HAVE to put decal in the Objects/Decals folder, but there's a cheat for that too. But as we're dealilng ONLY with 1stGen WoI, not relevant here. So...double check the pathway in the decals ini, following this format: aircraftfoldername/skinfoldername/D/decalname if it dosen't match, adjust accordingly. wrench kevin stein Quote
