A few recommendations required...

I got my copy of OFF yesterday, and also decided to buy the Hat in the Ring expansion. I installed both as instruction including patches. So the first time I ran the sim was with the expansion as well.

 

At the risk of repeating myself here, would someone please mind clarifying the following?

 

1) Is it supposed to say Hat in the Ring anywhere on the main title screen, as I am still seeing Between Heaven and Hell. Did I install in correctly.

 

2) I have an ATI 5850, and looking at the configuration recommendations is that more for performance or visual quality? Can someone recommend good settings for both, I am still experimenting with the settings, but I would very much like to hear from anyone with ATI cards what the optimum configuration is. I had some stuttering when running the Quick Scenario of 12 vs 12 Fkr Dr.1 against Camels.

My PC Specs are:

 

Intel Core Duo 6850 3Ghz

Sapphire Radeon 5850 1GB Toxic running Catalyst 10.4

4GB of Ram

Windows XP Pro

X-FI soundcard

 

3) Someone here mentioned bloom and hdr.dll which makes the graphics better... Is this a seperate download or is this just enabled through CFS3 Config?

 

4) In know there is no damage shown when choosing hi-res aircraft. Does this only mean bullet holes or wings and parts blown of? Also why is this? Is this a limit of the engine?

Hi,

I'm not at home, so there are a few things I can't say for sure.

 

1. I think that in the workshop menu there's a place that states the version which is installed. It should say 1.47, which is the last patch for HiTR.

 

2. What values are you using for your sliders?

With my ATI I use the tweaks from the FAQ, concerning Overrides and the Texture Info. My sliders are 5-4-4-4-3

In the ATI Catalyst Control Center, I use AA 2x, AF 4X and everything is set to Performance. The Catalyst AI in my XP is set to Advanced, but you can also try Standard.

My specs:

1280x1024 in XP

I5 750@3.2Ghz

4GB DDR3@1600

ATI 4890

 

3. Nope . I think it's a mod. I don't use it it's too dark for me.

After the meowing dog - and the BHaH splash screen you should see a main menu screen w/ a huge Nieuport 28 and the words Hat in the Ring emblazoned on it. If you don't see that something is wrong - best reinstall following the directions provided by UncleAl.

Yes, you can find it in the D/L section - last menu choice - it is one of the options contained in Creaghorn's Homebrew. I agree w/ Von Paulus - it is a bit too dark for me.

All in all though what I have seen is exactly what I have been looking for in a sim...

 

The dev team is not perhaps thinking of doing WW2 as well are they? (wishful thinking)

Oh one more question that I forgot to ask... the propeller is not visible in the forward view, when running that is, but is visible from a 60 degreen angle. I saw this is an issue under the FAQ's but there is not fix at the moment is there?
