+quack74 329 Posted May 23, 2010 (edited) Just some pics of Jasta4 Pfalz D.III's. It's one skin template with random decals to create multiple skins. Most are real markings. There will be about 10 mixed in with the stock Jasta 4 markings. This is a WIP so it should be ready for DL soon. Edited May 23, 2010 by quack74

Southside Bucky 1 Posted May 23, 2010 Nice work as usual, Quack. Is there a plain cross (without the white border) decal in the stock game? Reason I ask is, as you no doubt know, most Pfalz D.III, and D.IIIa's used the plain eisernes kreuz.
+quack74 329 Posted May 24, 2010 (edited) Nice work as usual, Quack. Is there a plain cross (without the white border) decal in the stock game? Reason I ask is, as you no doubt know, most Pfalz D.III, and D.IIIa's used the plain eisernes kreuz. Ahhh. I was waiting for someone to mention that. Well the stock decals for German markings change 3 times. TK has programed the decaling by dates to change the national markings. If I just create a eisern kreuz decal without the white border, it wouldnt change in mid to late 1918 to the baulken creuz. But..... I figured out that I can use dates to make a "Start Date" and an "End Date" in the decal config file. So funny you should mention this now. Because I'm going to try it out for these Jasta 4 D.III's. Believe me, it's been bugging me too. I'll fix it. But now the problem is, ALL the Pfalz decal configs will have to be changed. Any Pfalz decal called "Insignia", "Tail" , and "Fuse" will have to be changed. Will be very time consuming. I'll figure something out. BTW, the above pics are of D.III's. But the markings are a mix of D.III's and D.IIIa's. I mixed them up to get a good amount of personal markings. The D.IIIa I'll post to will be the same. I hope you all dont mind. Not 100% accurate but they look good. Edited May 24, 2010 by quack74

+quack74 329 Posted May 24, 2010 (edited) Thanks Christian59. I wish I could do a lot more. But it's sooo time consuming. It takes a long time to make them. I'll do a couple more though. What we need is an Enemy selection screen. Just like the "Loadout" screen. Then, for single missions, you can choose your enemy and select available custom skins for each enemy aircraft. It would be the same as what I'm doing just much easier. But thats up to TK at thirdwire. Would make for a great addition in a patch or an Expantion pack. If any of you are familiar with IL-2, this option is in it. You can select your enemy and their skins. I love that feature. Keeps things exciting. I'm doing it the hard way Edited May 24, 2010 by quack74
+quack74 329 Posted May 27, 2010 Ok the "National" markings didnt work out they way I hoped. So for now there still is the white outline around the Insignias. I just posted the Jasta 4 skins and decals. I posted them under my old Jasta4 Pfalz D.III download. So it's on page 2 I think in the Pfalz skin download section. It will say "Edited" But it's all new inside. Enjoy!
+quack74 329 Posted May 30, 2010 (edited) Sorry guys, but I found a mistake with the tail decals. There were two decals numbered incorrectly. So it would make a couple decals to appear out of order. I believe it was only for the Jasta4 PfalzD3 not 3a. So for those of you who already downloaded the latest Jasta4 skin pack here is the fixed "D" decal folder. Just overwrite the existing one. Again this is only for the D3 of Jasta4. Sorry about that. After making a couple hundred decals for one plane my eyes get a bit tired BTW I did fix the main download as well EDIT: Well I found another misplaced decal. SORRY again guys. I know 10 of you already downloaded the first fix. Well here's a new one. The below attachment is new as of June 2. It's the "D" folder for PfalzD3a of Jasta 4. +quack74 329 Posted June 15, 2010 Nice work as usual, Quack. Is there a plain cross (without the white border) decal in the stock game? Reason I ask is, as you no doubt know, most Pfalz D.III, and D.IIIa's used the plain eisernes kreuz. :good:I THINK I GOT IT! I found a way to get different markings to show for different planes with the same nationality. It's kind of long. Not a simple fix really. But it works. This is really just to create the Pfalz types without the white borders on the Iron Crosses. All the other normal markings will still appear at the right dates. I created a new nation in the Nations.ini in the Flight folder (after unpacking) and named it "Germany_Pfalz". Then created all the new decals needed and put them into the "Decals" folder. Then I created a "Nations" main folder in the: /Saved Games/ ThirdWire/ FirstEagles2/ Nations. Then I dropped in the new Nations.ini. (This is the only way the game will read any changes to the Nations.ini file). Then I needed to add the lines - NationsDirectory=Nations - to the AIRCRAFTOBJECT.ini in the Flight folder (after unpacking too). This way the game will know to look in the new Nations folder I added to find the "Nations.ini" that I altered. Lastly I needed to go into the PfalzD3 and D3a's aircraft folders and change all the national names whereever they may be. DATA.ini's, TextureSets, etc etc. Now at the selection screen for single missions you'll see the new German Nation (I think I named it "Pfalz German Air Services" for now". But when I select the PfalzD's as my aircraft, the new National name appears automatically because it's in the DATA.ini and the TextureSets. I dont know if this makes any sense any of you guys. It's really confusing to write even. But Trust Me, it works. I have to work on the new decals a bit and write up a readme that makes sense. I have to remember what I did step by step When its all done all you guys should have to do is copy and paste really. I think. Should be easy to install. BTW, I created another Nation called "German Air Service Bombers" just for the Stakkens. They're so big you cant use the same formation.ini set up as the GothGIV's. So I created a new bomber formation for the new "German Air Service Bombers" and renamed the Staaken's nation to Germany_Bombers. So there is a fix for the Staaken's formation spacing too if anyone cared. I'll post it with the National markings download when it's done. This is very confusing I know. But it's worth it. I think I have too much time on my hands . I think I was supposed to do the dishes today and cut the lawn:blink:
+quack74 329 Posted June 16, 2010 (edited) Here is how it looks. Note the Albatros D.V has normal markings for the same mission and the Pfalz D.IIIa's have no white borders. And the last pic is the Staaken formation a little more spread out. Edited June 16, 2010 by quack74
+quack74 329 Posted June 16, 2010 :blink:I just realized I need to create another "nation" for the Pfalz AC that have lozenge camo on the wings. The black crosses dont show well without the white borders. Argh!
