Cape Canaveral

Recommended Posts

Some of you may have already seen these pictures on facebook. From May 27 to May 31st I was in Florida with my CAP Squadron. On May 28th we visited Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. We saw the museum, Delta Launch Complex, Minuteman silos, SNARC launch area, a memorial to the Mercury Seven and a C-130 crew, and ultimately Launch Complex 34.

It was a goal in my life to be able to go to LC 34 and pay my respects to the crew of Apollo I

Here's a couple pictures. The rest are in my gallery.

FYI Challenger is buried out there, too, in an unmarked site not far from the Skid Strip. I'm heading back out there this AM to swap out some systems for CE, actually. A1A is a lousy drive!

Challenger is inside of an empty Minuteman Silo. Atleast that's what our guide, who worked on the SNARC, said.

Yup, and that's what it looks like. A big old slab of concrete.
