CowboyTodd41 134 Posted August 4, 2004 (edited) A guy over at SomethingAwful.com helped his dad by scanning a bunch of Elektachrome slides and then having the SA Goons fix the color balance and such with their mastery of Photoshop. I highly recomend checking them out, his dad was in the Navy and there are some truly beutiful F-4 pics and some others (even an F-106, YAY!) Here's the link. Last week forums Goon Slo-Tek was given some slides from his father, a member of the United States Navy. Slo-Tek scanned them all, then fixed what few color issues there were. The results are amazing, and the photos are powerful. At the end of the article, there will be links to desktop wallpaper sized images. I'd like to show you all a side of Something Awful that you don't get to see too often. Here is a preface quote from the photographer, Dr. Robert Reiheld. My son asked me to comment on these pictures. They were taken 71-72. They are all ektachrome, most of which were processed by the photo lab on the carrier. A couple of them were done at the wrong temperature, which gave an interesting blue cast that was "artistic". If you correct them in Photoshop, they don't work as well. My sincere thanks go out to forum Goon Slo-Tek for posting the pictures and to Dr. Robert Reiheld for taking the pictures, posting comments on each one, and for his service to our country. navychief 1 Posted August 4, 2004 I agree completely. I really liked the picture taken in Subic Bay, on the "Connie". I was never in the Philipines, but definitely heard a LOT of sea stories about it. All of my deployments were Med cruises. East Coast sailor. navychief 1 Posted August 4, 2004 Yeah, you're right Scout about the memories. Sure is easy to recall the good times, like liberty; but I sure do remember what you mentioned. Whew! When ADM Jerry O. Tuttle was onboard, the Ordies KNEW they were in for a rough time. Short-statured, short-tempered, and feisty as heck. I remember they called the bomb loading exercises he would order - "TUTTLE-EXs". All the squadron Ordies were kept humpin' when Tuttle was onboard, that was for certain. Tuttle went on to become a VADM before he retired.
