Olham 164 Posted October 4, 2010 UncleAl: The fact that such MIMICERY was sufficent when flying jet airliners in Windows 95, or an ME-109 in Windows 98, in NO way makes it sufficent for your Albatross in OFF Hey! Then I must be a Super Ace! I get them all with my little rudder! Even Tripes!!! (In left turns).
Herr Prop-Wasche 7 Posted October 4, 2010 Thanks to Burning Beard, I am using rudder pedals. Thanks, BB! At first, I had trouble adapting to them because they were more sensitive to slight input than the twisty-stick. Once that problem was solved I find them to be much easier than the stick. I do have to remember to depress the pedals at least once before I take off, because if I forget, the first time I use them my elevator goes into the full up position! After that, everything works as it is supposed to. Strange.
Over50 0 Posted October 4, 2010 I'm sitting here with one flesh and blood leg, and one plastic. Using the pedals is too-much like work to be enjoyable. My pedals are normally hooked up, but I don't normally use them in OFF. They just sit there, my 'Twisty Stick' does the deed, I simply don't Delete the Rudder Axis in Controls. Sooo if you don't like them in FSX, nobody is twisting your arm to use them, just cause they are there. Besides the average jet aircraft, only uses it's rudder on the ground. At which time the Joystick more than suffices. And how many YEARS did I play " Janes WWII Fighters " without pedals, as they plain old weren't required. If hitting your target with your single machine gun in OFF, without banking off target is NOT important to you, by all means. . disconnect the pedals and sell them, use the twisty stick. But if you recognize you're only going to hit with your first 3 bullets, the other 9 might hit somebody else. Continue using the Twisty Stick in OFF I, too, played the dickens out of Janes WWII Fighters without rudder pedals. Heck of a game for its time, too. As for FSX, I'm partial to the prop aircraft, both single and twin engine. The only jet I do fly on rare occasions is the Lear. I really don't see the attraction - or fun - of sim jumbo jet flying. As for OFF (and that "other not to be mentioned here WWI sim I also fly) the rudder pedals do come in handy where I can kick the rudder to full displacement to drop altitude in a hurry, though it does take practive to stay yawed w/o winging over into a spin or other. The displacement shooting thing is a learned skill with the peddles and most times I'm too late with too little to make it worthwhile. It's the turning assist for me where the pedals shine. But, again, I don't have a twist stick and as such I have no way to compare the game performance difference if any. And considering the $$ I have wrapped up in my CH gear adding a different mfr. twist stick is something I have to ponder some more.

I've never seen this with the CH pedals I use, although I've had instances where on the game start up they don't work at all or acted strangely. For me the problem stemmed from unknowingly having moved one of the two rotating function dials on my joystick when I dusted it. Took forever to figure it out, too. Anyway, it's the first place I look now if I start the game and the controls don't act right. This and also recalibrating the pedals and joystick using the CH Control Manager. hood 2 Posted October 4, 2010 Uncleal,I too have much trouble with the involuntary bank off target when pulling the trigger.I found the button on my Cyborg Evo that felt most comfortable for my thumb. For me it was Button 3, so I figured that as my trigger button. After a [very short] trial run I think I will stick with it as I am sure I don't get nearly as much veering off target.I'd be interested if others got the same result or am I just kidding myself>
hood 2 Posted October 5, 2010 I don't have FF so I lack the judder of gunfire.I will try both the space bar and my Button 3 setup over the next few missions and see if my hit percentage goes up.
