They were putting their a&& on the line for this country.

I think they could eat whatever they wanted.

Bad career move to broadcast it,though.

How many friggen politicians wanted souvenirs from those flights?

Oh I don't know. Young went on walkabout, so apparently it wasn't that bad a career move.

 

The discussion is funny though, and it seems, indicates that the NASA rules for that time were there for a good reason. I'd guess though that NASA coulda shoulda relaxed the rules and worked with their crews to experiment with real foods. NASA should have known something like this would happen. :grin:

Interesting bit Dave. Thanks for posting. Just one of the things about NASA and the early space pioneers, that most people never knew.
