OT: Anyone else having this problem?

Recommended Posts

Earlier today I had watched some YouTube stuff.

But after updating my Windows and also the Flash player, I don't get the videos anymore.

I get the sound, but no picture.

When I click on Hasse Wind's latest YouTube link, I do get a picture.

But not when I start YouTube myself.

Anyone else with such problems?

Are you running Firefox or Internet Exploder?

If Firefox you might see if you've got your NoScripts permissions reset. or you need to update NoScript,

That is if you have Firefox, otherwise...

I always update NoScript, and make allowances if necessary. In this case, NoScript didn't block anything.

Olham,

First of all, it's good to see you back. You're sadly missed when you aren't here to stimulate discussion in these forums.

This has probably already crossed your mind, but the simple fix to your problem may be a simple switch back to an earlier version of Adobe Flashplayer.

If you scroll down the page in the following link, you'll find some archived versions. The one you're looking for is probably 10.1

Make sure you reboot your PC after you've uninstalled the current version if you decide to head in this direction.

Cheers,

Thanks you for both your compliment and the advice, Parky.

I was thinking of writing back an ACRONIS image of my C: partition.

Would that eliminate the newer FLASH player completely?

That would be slightly drastic and much more time consuming than an uninstall and reinstall of the app.

I'm sure it would achieve pretty much the same thing though.

If it were my system, I think I'd choose the faster option.

(I do love Acronis though.....been using it for years.)

Cheers,

Parky

It must be your friendly Youtube-Polizei at work again. They've decided in their infinite wisdom that it's better if you don't have access to YouTube anymore, Olham. They want to protect you from the dangerous material such sites often contain. It's all in your best interest. Trust them. Obey. The Big Brother is watching.

But seriously speaking, I haven't noticed anything wrong with any new updates. YouTube seems to work just fine.

Hasse Wind, you have a tendency to fire my paranoia (which I'm glad is something EVERYONE in this whole galaxy is suffering from, as I've learnt from Douglas Adams).

Thanks, Parky - I read your advice too late and have written the old image back. Must check, if it helped.

Google Chrome - is that something I should search for, WM?

After all this hassle, I can at least report, that I can get YouTube again (sigh!).

Which I'd like to celebrate with Monty Python's "Spam Song".

They are watching you and all of us. Do you have a web camera? Did you know that the secret police can use it to watch you when you are at your computer?

I don't have a web camera, but if I had, they would very often face a very seriously gazing man

with a black baseball cap with a kind of antenna on the cap screen, and they would know immediately:

damn - it is us, who are getting watched. Raaaahhhh!!!!

With my genious idea of writing back a backup of my C: partition, I have eliminated OFF's files in the

AppData department, and nothing helped anymore but a clean deinstall and total new install!

Raaaaahhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!

Also, I had to restore all my settings in "Workshops", my pilot photos, my skins, my "Controls" etc. -

raaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I almost wept like a 3 year old boy; I sent a prayer like: Lord, have mercy - I only have this one pair of nerves!

But now, I have it all back up running fine - ahhhhh!

And I have only one pilot so far, to begin again flying a more serious carreer with Jasta 2 in September 1916.

I started with the Halberstadt again, and MvR has only arrived short before me.

He is a normal flyer there - no kills yet; just an eager pilot reading every word from the lips of our mentor,

Oswald Boelcke, who is quite impressive in his calm modesty, and in his understanding of air combat.

That's awful. Computers are evil like that. But it's good that you're back in business already. :drinks:

Hasse Wind is correct about Big Brother. The web cam part ? They would half to have a strong stomach to watch those. On the upside, Iam glad that Sparky is back. Without Olham being here. it was left up to Taillyho and Cpt Sopwith to "Carry On "

Thank you, Carrick, but I'll have to leave for another 10 days or so, soon.

I'll enjoy every second here before that.
