UK_Widowmaker Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 Really weird goings on! It's the only IDE device in the computer..and the other day, it stopped reading any CD's/DVD's. I couldn't open the drive door, without using the hole and Pin method....now, the drawer opens by itself at random times...totally without warning. Gonna get a new one, and have this one exorcised and burned at the stake!
Slartibartfast Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 Sounds like it is preparing to go to the DVD reader in the sky...
+Olham Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 (edited) You could check, if the cables are attached firmly. Maybe also use Windows repair function? I had strange problems after using TuneUp Utilities' 1-Click-TuneUp function. Now a friend told me never to use that one function. The others are good, but this one does stupid things every now and then, it seems. Edited February 23, 2011 by Olham
Von Paulus Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 You could check, if the cables are attached firmly. Maybe also use Windows repair function? It's hardware, not software. It's ready to commend its soul to the drivers maker. I had strange problems after using TuneUp Utilities' 1-Click-TuneUp function. Now a friend told me never to use that one function. The others are good, but this one does stupid things every now and then, it seems. Be careful with the TuneUp kind utilities. They tend to fix some problems but at the expense of creating new ones. Yes like life.
tranquillo Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 One of my drives did just that the other day, UK, but seems to be OK now after I gave it a stiff talking to . It'll be on it's way out soon I guess.
+RAF_Louvert Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 . I feel your pain WM. Once the old one has finally surrendered it's microcircuitry soul to the God Of All Things Computer and you've replaced it, there is one final act to perform on it's mortal remains. PULL! Honestly, it would want to be sent off that way. .
