Gr.Viper Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 (edited) Brace yourself, since the 2014 Olympics will have not one but 3 mascots. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2011/more/02/26/sochi.mascots.ap/index.html?eref=si_more The heroes themselves Leopard The "we like Putin" mascot, a favorite of the natio... TV-show phone vote. Bunny With a voice you want to put a bullet to. Bear Sort of a weak throwback to the 1980 olympics + the animal from the logo of our only political party. Not only do they look like crap, IMHO, but I'm certain that for days we'll have to endure the "cartoons" with them on TV. The sum of all elected mascots http://talisman.sochi2014.com/en/ Honestly, the Web favourite would look much more interesting and topical. I want it in plush. +Stary Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 (edited) Looks like totally ripped Kung-Fu Panda to me... Me, I still can't get over these twin brothers mascots for Polish-Ukrainian Euro 2012... edit: typo Edited February 27, 2011 by Stary Quote
SayethWhaaaa Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 Yeah, we went through something similar back in 2k with our mascots. I think like all olympic mascots, they were cheap, uninteresting and indicative of marketing focus on something that was once a sporting event... at some point. Quote
Gr.Viper Posted February 27, 2011 Author Posted February 27, 2011 I'm rewatching the final mascot presentation/awards show and my is it bad. The animations, the wording of the characters' back stories are almost so bad it's good level. The reaction of the audience in close up shots is priceless - the crowd was paid to applaud when told to, but during the "live" performances of rendered for TV freaks people have no clue what's going on on stage, watching the empty space with a mix of "WTF?" and "I wonder, if started my washing machine before leaving". Capitaine Vengeur Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Just hoping that the Chechen Wolf won't invite himself at Sochi as the most remembered mascot of this event! Quote
Gr.Viper Posted February 28, 2011 Author Posted February 28, 2011 The wolf was in the background in the Bunny's song during the presentation. It was an old song about hares who are scared of wolves and owls but don't give a damn because they gather some i-don't-care herb. Those Soviet movies had songs for any occasion really. Someone photoshopped the guys into one. Talk about creepy Quote
