+Olham Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 First I thought they had faked it by letting the landing gear disappear per retouche. But when he opens the door, you really see it's true. This was a most perfect landing! He may not have even damaged the propellers! Quote
Slartibartfast Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 Picture perfect... no Crash there regular day job... Quote
+Olham Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 (edited) Want to see a short take off and landing? Here's the Fieseler Storch: Edited May 18, 2011 by Olham Quote
tranquillo Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 Someone doing his job well. Superb bit of flying. Olham, I've got a flying model of the Storch which, the previous owner discovered, can also land unexpectedly. I'll get to repairing it one day. Quote
+Olham Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 Would such a model have the same STOL attitudes as the real craft? Quote

Lewie Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 (edited) During the last war..my old man was in SOE...and was always amazed at the short takeoff and landings of the Lysander too A more modern version of a STOL aircraft is the PZL Wilga. It will never win any beauty contests but it does the job of getting off and back down from the ground handily enough.. Edited May 20, 2011 by Lewie Quote
tranquillo Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 I'd like to see that, the RC Takes benefit of the huge wing area. However the STOL capabilities are due to the design of the flaps The short landing is responsable for the repair job, you now face Sooo theoretically short landings ARE possible . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ONCE A scale model is "a scale model". It has the same control surfaces as a real one and behaves in the same manner. The repair job was actually the result of pilot error. Quote
