jwrich 0 Posted June 6, 2011 (edited) This is Kyle Franklin do his drunken pilot routine. This video was taken at Ada Oklahoma air-show about 4 year ago, our last air show together. Our Air Show team (Oklahoma Barnstrormers) performed with Kyle, his wife, Karen and his dad, Jimmy Franklin, for about five years throughout Oklahoma ,and Kansas. Jimmy flew a Waco Biplane that had a jet engine mounted on the bottom of the fuselage. The Waco performed amazing aerobatics with the jet engine fired up. Kyle and his wife did the wing walking on the Waco while Jimmy flew a wild routine. Jimmy Franklin was kill while performing his routine at an air show about 5 years ago. Kyle and Karen began performing with the Piper Cub and set about acquiring another Waco. In March of this year Kyle and Karen were performing at an air show in his Waco biplane with Karen doing the wing walking. A fire developed in the Waco's engine, and Kyle setup for a crash landing. Karen did get back into the front cockpit before the airplane hit the ground. The airplane burst into flames, Kyle got out but went back to pull Karen out of the burning plane. Kyle received burns to his face and arms but Karen was badly burned. Just this past week Karen died from her burns. The Air Show Community mourns this tragic loss.
