+Swordsman422 Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 Hey guys, I'm having problems getting the decals for the A3D skywarrior skins to show up in SF2. I've done a forum search and there is no other listing of this problem. Try as I might, NONE of the decals will show up. Decals.ini example is from the VAH-1 skin. Here is what I have. I have not modified this at all, and it MUST have worked for the author. [Decal001] MeshName=Fuselage DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=RIGHT FilenameFormat=insignia Position=-3.9,0.25 Rotation=0.0 Scale=2.0 [Decal002] MeshName=Fuselage DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=LEFT FilenameFormat=insignia Position=-3.9,0.25 Rotation=0.0 Scale=2.0 [Decal003] MeshName=Tail DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=RIGHT FilenameFormat=A3D-1/VAH-1 Forrestal/D/JATOright Position=-5.255,0.25 Rotation=0.0 Scale=2.4 [Decal004] MeshName=Tail DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=LEFT FilenameFormat=A3D-1/VAH-1 Forrestal/D/JATOleft Position=-5.255,0.25 Rotation=0.0 Scale=2.4 [Decal005] MeshName=Tail DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=RIGHT FilenameFormat=A3D-1/VAH-1 Forrestal/D/Navy Position=-6.4,0.25 Rotation=0.0 Scale=3.2 [Decal006] MeshName=Tail DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=LEFT FilenameFormat=A3D-1/VAH-1 Forrestal/D/Navy Position=-6.4,0.25 Rotation=0.0 Scale=3.2 [Decal007] MeshName=AirBrake_R DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=RIGHT FilenameFormat=A3D-1/VAH-1 Forrestal/D/Navy Position=-6.4,0.25 Rotation=0.0 Scale=3.2 [Decal008] MeshName=AirBrake_L DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=LEFT FilenameFormat=A3D-1/VAH-1 Forrestal/D/Navy Position=-6.4,0.25 Rotation=0.0 Scale=3.2 [Decal009] MeshName=WingO_L DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=TOP FilenameFormat=insignia Position=-7.50,-2.30 Rotation=30.0 Scale=2.00 [Decal010] MeshName=WingO_R DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=BOTTOM FilenameFormat=insignia Position=7.50,-2.30 Rotation=30.0 Scale=2.00 [Decal011] MeshName=WingO_R DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=TOP FilenameFormat=A3D-1/VAH-1 Forrestal/D/TB Position=7.5,-2.45 Rotation=-30.0 Scale=3.25 [Decal012] MeshName=WingO_L DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=BOTTOM FilenameFormat=A3D-1/VAH-1 Forrestal/D/TB Position=-7.5,-2.45 Rotation=-30.0 Scale=3.25 [Decal013] MeshName=Nacelle_L DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=LEFT FilenameFormat=A3D-1/VAH-1 Forrestal/D/DangerL Position=3.4,-0.45 Rotation=0.0 Scale=0.4 [Decal014] MeshName=Nacelle_L DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=RIGHT FilenameFormat=A3D-1/VAH-1 Forrestal/D/DangerR Position=3.4,-0.45 Rotation=0.0 Scale=0.4 [Decal015] MeshName=Nacelle_R DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=LEFT FilenameFormat=A3D-1/VAH-1 Forrestal/D/DangerL Position=3.4,-0.475 Rotation=0.0 Scale=0.4 [Decal016] MeshName=Nacelle_R DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=RIGHT FilenameFormat=A3D-1/VAH-1 Forrestal/D/DangerR Position=3.4,-0.44 Rotation=0.0 Scale=0.4 [Decal017] MeshName=Tail DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=RIGHT FilenameFormat=insignia Position=-3.9,0.25 Rotation=0.0 Scale=2.0 [Decal018] MeshName=Tail DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=LEFT FilenameFormat=insignia Position=-3.9,0.25 Rotation=0.0 Scale=2.0 [Decal019] MeshName=Tailfin DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=RIGHT FilenameFormat=A3D-1/VAH-1 Forrestal/D/TB2 Position=-9.0,3.65 Rotation=0.0 Scale=3.5 [Decal020] MeshName=Tailfin DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=LEFT FilenameFormat=A3D-1/VAH-1 Forrestal/D/TB1 Position=-9.0,3.65 Rotation=0.0 Scale=3.5 [Decal021] MeshName=Nose DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=LEFT FilenameFormat=A3D-1/VAH-1 Forrestal/D/Tiger Position=7.0,0.4 Rotation=0.0 Scale=0.75 [Decal022] MeshName=Nose DecalLevel=2 DecalFacing=LEFT FilenameFormat=A3D-1/VAH-1 Forrestal/D/Modex Position=8.5,-0.175 Rotation=0.0 Scale=3.0 [Decal023] MeshName=Nose DecalLevel=2 DecalFacing=RIGHT FilenameFormat=A3D-1/VAH-1 Forrestal/D/Modex Position=8.5,-0.175 Rotation=0.0 Scale=3.0 [Decal024] MeshName=WingO_R DecalLevel=2 DecalFacing=TOP FilenameFormat=A3D-1/VAH-1 Forrestal/D/Modex Position=6.9,-2.2 Rotation=-30.0 Scale=1.75 [Decal025] MeshName=WingO_L DecalLevel=2 DecalFacing=BOTTOM FilenameFormat=A3D-1/VAH-1 Forrestal/D/Modex Position=-6.9,-2.2 Rotation=-30.0 Scale=1.75 [Decal026] MeshName=Tailfin DecalLevel=2 DecalFacing=RIGHT FilenameFormat=A3D-1/VAH-1 Forrestal/D/TailNum Position=-8.35,2.95 Rotation=0.0 Scale=2.7 [Decal027] MeshName=Tailfin DecalLevel=2 DecalFacing=LEFT FilenameFormat=A3D-1/VAH-1 Forrestal/D/TailNum Position=-8.35,2.95 Rotation=0.0 Scale=2.7 [Decal028] MeshName=Tail DecalLevel=2 DecalFacing=RIGHT FilenameFormat=A3D-1/VAH-1 Forrestal/D/BuNo Position=-7.9,0.55 Rotation=0.0 Scale=1.0 [Decal029] MeshName=Tail DecalLevel=2 DecalFacing=LEFT FilenameFormat=A3D-1/VAH-1 Forrestal/D/BuNo Position=-7.9,0.55 Rotation=0.0 Scale=1.0 [Decal030] MeshName=Nose DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=RIGHT FilenameFormat=A3D-1/VAH-1 Forrestal/D/Tiger Position=7.0,0.4 Rotation=0.0 Scale=0.75 Usually I can figure this out easily, but I've tried everything. Wrench Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 where did you PUT the decals folder? It dosen't stay with the aircraft/skin folder anymore. Look in your object folder for /Decals. The easiest and simplets way to do it, is drop the WHOLE A3D folder into the /Decals folder. Then, open it up and Delete EVERYTHING but the skin folder. Then open up the skin folder and delete EVERYTHING but the /D subfolder. this keeps the original pathways intact in the decals ini. See screenie below for example Quote
+Soulfreak Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 NONE of the decals will show up. Insignias too? 1 Quote
Wrench Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 "Insignia" should work, but pretty much all them have had name changes in SF2 this is from the stock A-4B's decals ini: [Decal001] MeshName=Nose DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=RIGHT FilenameFormat=InsigniaFuseR Position=3.13,-0.113 Scale=1.5 DecalMaxLOD=3 [Decal002] MeshName=Nose DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=LEFT FilenameFormat=InsigniaFuseL Position=3.13,-0.113 Scale=1.5 DecalMaxLOD=3 [Decal003] MeshName=Left_Outer_Wing DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=TOP FilenameFormat=InsigniaWingL Position=-2.75,-1.40 Scale=1.8 DecalMaxLOD=3 [Decal004] MeshName=Right_Outer_Wing DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=BOTTOM FilenameFormat=InsigniaWingL Position=2.75,-1.40 Scale=1.8 DecalMaxLOD=3 [Decal005] MeshName=Left_Wing DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=TOP FilenameFormat=InsigniaWingL Position=-2.75,-1.40 Scale=1.8 DecalMaxLOD=3 [Decal006] MeshName=Right_Wing DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=BOTTOM FilenameFormat=InsigniaWingL Position=2.75,-1.40 Scale=1.8 DecalMaxLOD=3 Quote
+Swordsman422 Posted June 9, 2011 Author Posted June 9, 2011 (edited) Wrench, the decals folder is in the objects/decals/A3D-1/skinname/d folder. So the pathway checks out. When I install a jet from SFP1 into SF2, I take exactly those steps to install the skins and decals. It works every other time but this one. Even if I use default decals such as USNAttacknum, nationname, insigniafusel, etc, nothing shows up on this bird. And it obviously does for everyone else or there would already ave been a topic. It's a shame, too, because it's such a well done model and I use it a lot in campaigns. Edit: Just tested it in SF1 and the decals show up fine, but not in SF2. I have NEVER had problems with skins translating between titles before. Edited June 9, 2011 by Swordsman422 Quote
Wrench Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 (edited) what skinpak is it (link please!), and I assume it's for the DATs Skywarrior? I ask cause there's a stand-in using Buny's B-66 from many years ago. also, what game are you installing it to? Some decals might not be available (which I highly doubt) in say, SF2I as opposed to a Full-4 merged SF2 at worst, extract the needed decals from whichever cat, drop them in the /D subfolder and adjust the path accordingly (most A3Ds would have 6** series modex anyways, at least according to all the source books I have) EDIT::: the answer's been staring us in the face, right in the first post Add this line to EVERY decal call out: DecalMaxLOD=3 SF2 requires the maximum # of lods called out. Should have seen that right away, when I posted the Scooter decals ini. That'll fix it right up Might also what to shorted the folder name, and adjust the pathwa. SF2 HATES spaces in names. delete the '(space)Forestall' so it read VAH-1 only Edit the decals ini to match the new folder name Edited June 13, 2011 by Wrench forgot to add what else to fix Quote
+Swordsman422 Posted June 16, 2011 Author Posted June 16, 2011 Finally had a chance to test it. Adding the LOD level worked. Thanks Wrench. I'm still getting used to the way SF2 works. Quote
Streakfalcon Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 Thank Heaven for the search function. This issue was driving me crazy with this plane! Quote
