Oubaas Posted September 10, 2011 Posted September 10, 2011 Aside from the very expensive 3D Studio Max, what programs do you use to create add-on aircraft? Is it possible to use the Third Wire Export Plug-in in anything besides 3DS Max to export the necessary LOD files? I've got GMAX, and I've done some modeling for the MS flight sims a long time ago, but I'm much more into TW's SF2 series these days and might like to create some freeware aircraft to upload to CombatAce if I can do it without spending enough for a new Martin guitar for the software. Thanks! Rick Quote

Oubaas Posted September 10, 2011 Author Posted September 10, 2011 Anyone know of a place that sells a recent enough 3DS Max version to work with SF2 for a decent price? Rick Quote

solotk Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 Sorry, I'm a wee bit confused. When people say LOD plugin, do they mean a Blender exporter plug in to export models to ThirdWire , or a LOD plugin full stop, as Blender has those? Quote

The Thirdwire LOD format is unique. Quote

fallenphoenix1986 Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 (edited) Anyone know if the student version of Max is compatible with the exporter? I've got the license or about another 6 months and wont be able to renew it, nor will I be blowing a months salery on a full license.... if it works though perhaps I could have a crack at producing something before my time runs out. FastCargo Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 The student version works just fine with the exporter...assuming you have the proper version of 3ds MAX (currently 3ds MAX 2009 32-bit). FC Quote
fallenphoenix1986 Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 Cool, will have a look into it next weekend.... theres a couple of birds I'd love to see that have a slim to nil chance of being made elsewhere :P Craig Quote
