Padre Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 Like it say's in the topic description I Can't load AIM-9Ds on F-4C. This is out of the box, so, I extracted the Load.ini for the F-4C it say's AIM-9E-2. So, Since I'm able to load AIM-9Bs, I'm scratching my head. Is there a fix? Quote
+Fubar512 Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 Is there a fix? Yep. Want to load a Navy-only missile? Then go fly a Navy bird Quote

The F-4C is an Air Force plane. Thats why you can not load them. Being stock you have to either unpack the CAT's or just download one of the weapons packs that has the AIM-9D in it and adjust the AIM-9D_DATA file to read as below. I'll give it a try. As for Fubar, I guess, we know why they posted this as a sticky:
Of course, I do appreciate Fubar's point; and wonder, WHAT IS the difference between the B Model and D model? was the D better, or simply a Navy designation? 1 1 Quote
fallenphoenix1986 Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 New fusing system, new warhead type(fragmentation to expanding rod), newmotor, newseeker head and aerodynamic differences. End result; the D had a greater burn time on the motor and was more maneuverable, and thanks to the seaker head had a wider FOV. Stil far from perfect however the D was a signifficant improvement. +Fubar512 Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 (edited) As the vast majority of members here are more concerned with historic realism, I posted the appropriate response. And, you do realize that you're asking questions in the wrong forum, right? I'm moving this thread where it belongs, to the SF2 "what if" boards. Edited January 3, 2012 by Fubar512 Quote
Padre Posted January 3, 2012 Author Posted January 3, 2012 Thanks FallenPhoenix, very helpful. Yes, Fubar, I can see that you've moved the thread, and I'm okay with that. Furthermore, I can generally be counted as one that prefers more realism, than less. Although, at the time I posted the question, I had no idea that either the AIM-9D was a Navy Only Missile nor that the F-4C was an Airfarce only bird. Since I'm flying it in a Fictional Mercenary Squadron, involved in a non-historic campaign presented directly from the vendor, I'm not sure that I should have realized that all my B's were gone while there's a STACK of D's over in the supply window due to the previously stated historical facts. Thank you & FallenPhoenix, again, for the clarification. Quote
+Fubar512 Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 (edited) AIM-9H (USN) and '9E (USAF) are based on the same concept...both were superior to the D, and the "E" was in service in 1967. Read about it here: http://www.designation-systems.net/dusrm/m-9.html Edited January 3, 2012 by Fubar512 Quote
+Wrench Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 (edited) wouldn't it depend on which F-4C that's being used? There are 3 of them ..... and loadouts WILL change with mission year, and which model is being used. It's how the game works. that, and Falcon IS the standard loadout for early Cs. we know why they posted this as a sticky:
actually, that for for another member (who's still here), who consistently was always posting utterly incorrect answers, and totally messing up people's games. One of several "sufferers" of Persistant HUA Fubar has been very helpful with several of my noob questions regarding both SF1 and SF2. He has repeatedly displayed both generousity and patience. As it turns out two sorties later the AIM-9E became available. So much better than the B. This is also, after several years of owning SF1, that I've ever progressed into the 60's where the Gun-Toting F-4Bs or Cs were avaialble. I never would fly them without machine guns. WOW, what a monster. Edited January 4, 2012 by Padre Quote
