+SidDogg Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 Hello, All. I might not get much insight on this but... Does anyone know about this new DefaultStartDate= and DefaultEndDate= feature for TextureSet.INI? I've seen single digits only, but I read somewhere that putting in whole years works as well... I tried the "whole year" thing a while back, no dice. ...Any suggestions? SidDogg Quote
+paulopanz Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 (edited) ...Any suggestions? SidDogg Using this line You choose the default screen loaded year by year, so digit: 1964, 1956, 1970 etc. as You want ... If You put "1" that will be the first skin when plane was in service. very easy and funny, isn't it? Edited February 12, 2012 by paulopanz Quote
+SupGen Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 Hey Sid, to be honest, I didn't know you could use this for TextureSet.INI's, but I do know that in Loadout.INI's it's StartDefaultDate, in that order. I had it reversed once and, obviously, it don't work that way. In some of Wrench's recent Loadout.INI's he sets it up thusly: Nation=xxx StartDefaultDate=xxxx DefaultFor=xxx Nation is obvious, Date(in this case), is too, and DefaultFor (in Loadout.INI) would be one of the standard loadout callouts. Hope this is helpful. Quote

+SidDogg Posted February 12, 2012 Author Posted February 12, 2012 Hmmm... ...Is there no way to make squadron-specific skins "disappear" when starting missions generated before or after prescribed dates? That way, one could make newer versions of that skin. SidDogg Quote
Fubar512 Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 AFAIK, Yes, using the same format for start and end dates. Quote
+wilco Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 Well, if you use DefaultStartDate and DefaultEndDate accordingly on different versions of a skin of one squadron, you get exactly that. I used that for the Neshers, Shahaks etc., so that flying during the Yom Kippur War will get you the skins with the yellow ID triangles and flying a few weeks later will get you the same skin minus the losses of the war and so on. You can still select the "wrong" skins in the loadout menu, but the game picks the correct ones. Quote
+SidDogg Posted February 12, 2012 Author Posted February 12, 2012 So basically, you have to update the SQUADRONLIST.INI to get the game to "work" with your new squadron? SidDogg Quote

+ianh755 Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 (edited) Hi there, I've tried the DefaultStartDate= that Fubar suggested but I must be doing something wrong as I can still select my skin out-side of these dates. I've also tried using just the year instead of the month/day too with no difference and also adding it to the A/C.ini textureset callout. Has any got any idea what I'm doing wrong? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A/C textureset.ini [TextureSet] DefaultStartDate=01/01/1985 DefaultEndDate=01/01/1990 Name=JaBoG 34 - 83A scheme Nation=Germany Squadron=JaBoG 34 Specular=0.300000 Glossiness=0.050000 Reflection=0.000000 DecalNumberRandomize=TRUE DecalNumberBlockSize=16 DecalNumberStart=0 DecalNumberEnd=16 A/C.ini texture set call out [TextureSet001] Directory=83a Name=JaBoG 34 - 83A scheme Nation=Germany Squadron=JaBoG 34 Specular=0.300000 Glossiness=0.050000 Reflection=0.000000 DecalNumberRandomize=TRUE DecalNumberBlockSize=16 DecalNumberStart=0 DecalNumberEnd=16 [TextureSet002] Directory=87d Name=JaBoG 33 - 87D scheme Nation=Germany Squadron=JaBoG 33 Specular=0.300000 Glossiness=0.050000 Reflection=0.000000 DecalNumberRandomize=TRUE DecalNumberBlockSize=16 DecalNumberStart=0 DecalNumberEnd=16 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Many Thanks.............................................IanH Edited March 3, 2012 by ianh755 Quote
Spinners Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 I think the positive selection is deliberate (and a good thing). The skin year date stops the game from selecting 'out of range'. Quote
+PureBlue Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 This feature, allows a skin to be selected automatically, between the dates you define. It doesn't stop them from displaying in the skins dropdown menu. Quote
+ianh755 Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 (edited) Bugger! I was hoping I could use the DefaultEndDate to stop you selecting that skin from the drop down menu so I could simulate a SQN disbanding (rather than adding it as a new A/C with different dates). Ah well, thanks anyway! Edited March 3, 2012 by ianh755 Quote
