So, I've been tinkering lately with the idea of actually learning the basics of 3d modeling stuff. I've installed the latest Blender 2.62, which I must say "looks" quite accessible. Sooo here's the question: if I export an object to *.3ds file, will it carry over any animations created in Blender or will they have to be recreated from a scratch in 3Ds MAX proper?

SFP1Ace I was using BLender since day one and then I learned my way

Make 3D model (only mesh) and export it via VRLM format to 3DS

why VRLM - I had the best result - pivots are where they are modeled in Blender

nothing rotates, nothing is stretched (Yes I had that problem with 3DS file or DXF)

In 3DS I make all animations and UVW mapping, hierarchy etc.

If you find new way I will learn from you because I like Blender and dislike 3DS :-)

Monty,

Not sure if I understood you? So, "Blender" items can be port over to 3ds file with little issues? What is VRLM?

Thanks...

Just downloaded Blender... Wow, looks like a new tool to learn! :drinks:

Looks like time to find new tutorial to learn this thing...

Can this thing transport your work to work in the proper file format so that you can use it in SF2?

No, as the TW LOD exporter only works in 3dsMax. You can always create your model using another software package, and then have someone with 3dsMax export it for you.

Well, as soon as I'll model ANTYHING, I'll try it, lol. :drinks:

BTW, from what I've read, starting with 2.5 Blender received a redesigned UI. Have you considered updating?
