+hgbn Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 Distance cheats a lot in Greenland. What looks to be a mountain just across the Fjord is actually a mountain 20 km away These wild Musk Ox's were everywhere at Naval station Grønnedal. Even inside the camp itself. You had to be careful taking a corner at a building. You never knew if there was one standing at the other side. We were told if we caught one by surprise and it snort. Freeze until it moved. IF it started scraping in the dirt. Run for your life. Man I miss this place. If it wasn't because I have wife and children I would move and stay there for ever. If I had to describe Greenland with one word only. It would be SILENCE 1 Quote

+hgbn Posted June 28, 2012 Author Posted June 28, 2012 Sorry for the lesser quality in these shots. They were taken through the window of the S-61N on our return flight from Naval station Grønnedal to Narssarssuaq airport. Over the inland ice cap. Quote
+hgbn Posted June 28, 2012 Author Posted June 28, 2012 Aurora Borealis The sky on speed. Unfortunately I didn't have the camera with me. So these were taken with my cell phone. Hence the poor quality. But even if I had a proper camera it wouldn't had done the pure awesomeness of the phenomena justice. I can only recommend anyone to visit Greenland at least once in their lifetime. Its pure meditation for the soul and where else can you enjoy a Whiskey on the rocks with ice thousands year old Quote
+Stary Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 Yes Master seriously, that is what I call deserted place Quote
+hgbn Posted June 28, 2012 Author Posted June 28, 2012 I agree Przemek. At any given time there is approx 57.000 people living in entire Greenland. There are probably more polar bears than people And thanks Quote
Viggen Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 Wow Greenland really looks like my idea of heaven. All that snow... Thanks for sharing these! Quote
