Geary Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 I have problem with 2 of Gepards old terrains; Israel 2 and Suez 2. Most things seem to be right with them until I close in on enemy tanks on a CAS mission. Some of the tanks are below ground level. Some are partially buried. Some are floating sideways as if on the side of an invisible hill. If I lower or raise the exterior view angle of the tanks they become fully visible but the terrain partially changes to a sky blue. I have the cat pointed to the Desert.Cat and it's in the install's terrain folder. The install is patched to Oct 2008. Any ideas for a fix? Quote
Geary Posted October 23, 2013 Author Posted October 23, 2013 Yep. Changed to GermanyCE and VietnamSEA and still have the same problem. Quote
+Wrench Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 (edited) it's a HeightField issue, either in the data ini itself or the HFD do the desert tiles (or, to be exact ANY land tiles -NOT sea/land transitions) have an associated _hm.bmp? If so, what is the height sepecified? As so: [Texture015] Filename=desert1.BMP HasWater=0 HeightMap=desert1_hm.BMP HeightMapScale=20.000000 Color=0.858675,0.710850,0.489428 SolidObjectTexture= AlphaObjectTexture= if so, you'll have to either delete those to line or comment them out Thusly: [Texture015] Filename=desert1.BMP HasWater=0 //HeightMap=desert1_hm.BMP //HeightMapScale=20.000000 Color=0.858675,0.710850,0.489428 SolidObjectTexture= AlphaObjectTexture= the rebuilt versions I did, have this already done cause it simply don't work right (as you see) Edited October 23, 2013 by Wrench Quote
Geary Posted October 23, 2013 Author Posted October 23, 2013 Wrench, That fixed it. I commented out a about half-a-dozen entries for 'flat land' tiles. What about mountain HeightMapScale=90.000000? Quote
+Wrench Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 (edited) as I said, delete it on ANY land tiles that means **farm, **desert, **mountain, ** city ... etc anything that doesn't have Sea2*** and those, reduce the Height = to 2.00 EDIT: in fact, instead of screwing around with it anymore, why not just download the fixed and targets expanded version?? http://combatace.com/files/file/7430-isreal2-ver-25-by-gepard/ don't even bother with the Suez map. Isreal2 covers it all, and is 100% scale. Suez in NOT - it's 63% scale Edited October 24, 2013 by Wrench Quote
Geary Posted October 24, 2013 Author Posted October 24, 2013 RGR, Thanks. I've got your expanded version and intend to give it a try. Quote
