jwrich 0 Posted December 9, 2013 Guys I got CF3 DVD. The next step is to un-install the old CF3 CD and install the CS3 DVD . Once it is installed, it is my understanding is that the disk does not have to be left in the computer, is that correct? I installed the CS3 DVD , played short mission, then tried it with OFF & disk out no go, disk in no go. I put the CS CD in and it worked. What am I doing wrong, Help? After viewing Hellshades videos, I can hardly wait to get WOFF. ThanksRich
RAF_Louvert 101 Posted December 9, 2013 . I could be wrong about this but you may have to re-install OFF and when it asks for CFS3 so it can grab the files you would then load the DVD. Because you installed OFF using the CD version it now needs that to run. .
tranquillo 10 Posted December 9, 2013 Sounds right to me too, Lou. I grabbed a DVD version too and uninstalled everything (CFS and OFF) then re-installed using the DVD - no problem. You can use a virtual drive, Rich, if you don't want to keep inserting your disc.
von Baur 54 Posted December 9, 2013 "Inserting a virtual drive"? That sounds like an idea, Tranquillo. Being the tech-dullard I am, how would I go about that> Copy certain files from the CD to a thumb drive? And if that's correct, which ones? I wold guess I'd then have to instruct OFF/CFS3 to look for these files in a new location, too. How would that be done?
jwrich 0 Posted December 9, 2013 Thanks Guys, I think I'll just keep doing what I am doing now, keeping the CS3 CD in the computer until I get WOFF. I can still play OFF as it is. Thanks for your quick response. Merry Christmas to all Rich
tranquillo 10 Posted December 9, 2013 (edited) You need 2 programmes (both available for free).I must state that I consider it OK to make an image of a CD that you own for your use only - I am not condoning making copies for others. ClonyXXL will scan the CFS3 CD and tell you what type of copy protection it has. Download Alcohol 52% and create a virtual drive. Make an ISO image of your disk and mount it in the virtual drive. No more CD. Sorry, just seen that you'll manage short term with what you've got. Makes sense really. Edited December 9, 2013 by tranquillo
corsaire31 7 Posted December 9, 2013 With the DVD you don't need to install CFS3. You launch the install of OFF, then it will ask you to insert the DVD, read a few files and finish install OFF. You can then store your DVD away. I would think it will be the same for WOFF.
Burning Beard 14 Posted December 10, 2013 I just got the DVD also. What I did was install it right over the top of the old CFS3, same folder and everything. I then took the CFS3.exe from the new install and copied it to the OFF folder. Now it boots no problem without the disk in the drive. Beard
