decal creation

hi,  this may be a stupid question but, i am interested in creating some new what if nation decals and was wondering what software and/or template do i use for this.  thanks, dan

You can use GIMP or Artweaver Free. They are open source alternatives to photo shop. I used GIMP to make the decals for the V/W Class Destroyer.

Try to get an older version of GIMP as my tutorial will be easier to follow - look for GIMP 2.6 and try to avoid GIMP 2.8
