Mirage F1 avionics update info by The Mirage F1 Team

Some notes on the new avionics

 

F1C variants :

- all versions should now have the radar with switching range scale markers
- locking targets is only possible in 35 NM scale and closer

 

BF-type RWR

- Search radars not indicated
- AAA radars not indicated but audio warning if they are tracking
- Pulse = AI radar . flashing if missile is launched
- TWS = all SAM radars, flashing if missile is launched
- CW = missile launch alarm, flashing

 

New HUD :

Nav mode shows

- orange magnetic compass scale on top
- green pitch ladder which rotates around HUD center
- yellow Flightpath symbol
- yellow baro altitude scale on the right
- gunsight reticle is caged on HUD center
- "inverted T" centered symbol

 

A2A modes show

Always

- green pitch ladder which rotates around HUD center
- "inverted T" centered symbol

 

with guns selected

- gunsight reticle with default range of 500 meter without radar lock
- orange magnetic compass scale on top, with radar lock this becomes radar range indicator, showing distance in NM if range is greater than 1 NM
  If range is closer than 1 NM the scale is changing to hundreds of meters
- a small orange or yellow box is displayed to show target position within HUD FOV
- yellow closure speed readout on the right, showing 000 without lock and positive or negative closure with radar lock

 

with missiles selected

- yellow radar range readout on top, showing distance in NM
- yellow closure speed readout on the right, showing 000 without lock and positive or negative closure with radar lock
- with radar missile the Flightpath Symbol is displayed, this has the ASE function, center it/fly towards it to lead the target for a missile attack
- a small orange or yellow box is displayed to show target position within HUD FOV
- with radar lock and inside minimum range for missile launch, a red light/dot is displayed in the lower     half of the HUD

 

A2G mode shows :

with guns bombs rockets

- orange magnetic compass scale on top
- green pitch ladder which rotates around HUD center
- yellow baro altitude scale on the right
- gunsight reticle indicating CCIP
- "inverted T" centered symbol

F1AZ and F1AD

 

Avionics info:

A2A ranging radar , 5 nm range, 16° cone, 6000 ft min altitude (can lose lock if below min alt/angle). Can be turned off/on like other radars.

BF-type RWR

- Search radars not indicated

- Pulse = AI radar . flashing if missile is launched

HUD

Navigation

- magnetic compass scale

Always displayed

- aircraft symbol in center

 
A2A gun

+ magnetic compass scale, changes to radar range scale , indicates NM at 1 NM+ and hm at less than 1 NM
+ A2A reticle caged in center
+ A2G reticle = roll indicator, displayed slightly depressed below aircraft symbol
+ closure speed readout, to the right and below the aircraft symbol, with radar lock

 
A2A missile

+ digital radar range readout in NM at the top
+ A2G reticle = roll indicator, displayed slightly depressed below aircraft symbol
+ closure speed readout, to the right and below the aircraft symbol, with radar lock

 

A2G modes

Gun Bomb Rocket

- magnetic compass scale
- aircraft symbol in center
- A2G reticle = CCIP for gun bomb rocket

  If last bomb/rocket is released, compass scale and A2G reticle will disappear, select gun to display them again

 

AS 30 Missile

- aircraft symbol in center

I guess no, but the packages will be updated to include these updates in the future, I think.

So far, I bellieve only the AZ and CZ versions are updated already, the others will follow.

In the CZ, the new HUD symbols level of detail is outstanding!

 

For CZ (and maybe AZ too) you will need to put the 30mm_DEFA553 guns in the guns folder.

Only in the last 2 releases, the AZ and CZ/CZ_Late .

Update packs which bring the three aircraft to the standard of the other latest releases (French F1C series and the F1CZ/AZ)

It adds the latest data ini (baffmeister FM 0.96) and the multi-color sight.

More updates are to be expected soon.

There are some changes to the avionics of the F1C HUD type used by the FAF and many exported F1's.

Changes compared to the last version from 2014:


Nav mode shows

- orange magnetic compass scale on top
- green pitch ladder which rotates around HUD center  New scaling, showing a bigger part of the pitch ladder in the HUD FOV
- yellow Flightpath symbol Symbol changed to Vertical Velocity Indicator function
- yellow baro altitude scale on the right
- gunsight reticle is caged on HUD center gunsight reticle no longer displayed in NAV mode
- "inverted T" centered symbol (also the radar boresight reference)

 
A2A modes show
Always

- green pitch ladder which rotates around HUD center  New scaling, showing a bigger part of the pitch ladder in the HUD FOV
- "inverted T" centered symbol (also the radar boresight reference)

 
with guns selected

- gunsight reticle with default range of 500 meter without radar lock
- orange magnetic compass scale on top, with radar lock this becomes radar range indicator, showing distance in NM if range is greater than 1 NM
  If range is closer than 1 NM the scale is changing to hundreds of meters
- a small orange or yellow box is displayed to show target position within HUD FOV
- yellow closure speed readout on the right, showing 000 without lock and positive or negative closure with radar lock Replaced, see below

- orange closure speed scale displayed on the right, with radar lock only. Scale covers -200 kts to +1000 kts

 Closure speed is indicated by the moving > shaped caret

 

with missiles selected

- yellow radar range readout on top, showing distance in NM Replaced, see below

- the orange compass scale/radar range indicator is now displayed with Radar and IR missiles, range indication same as with guns
- yellow closure speed readout on the right, showing 000 without lock and positive or negative closure with radar lock Replaced, see below

- orange closure speed scale displayed on the right, with radar lock only. Scale covers -200 kts to +1000 kts

 Closure speed is indicated by the moving > shaped caret
- with radar missile the Flightpath  (Now VVI) Symbol is displayed, this has the ASE function, center it/fly towards it to lead the target for a missile attack
- a small orange or yellow box is displayed to show target position within HUD FOV
- with radar lock and inside minimum range for missile launch, a red light/dot is displayed in the lower half of the HUD

- if selected missile is within min/max range and launch G-limit, a green light/dot shoot cue is displayed below the center symbol

- with missiles selected (radar or IR), two triangle symbols below the center symbol indicate missiles present, symbol is removed with no missiles left

- if missile seekers are locked-on to a target, two orange lights are displayed below the triangle missile present symbols

(Preliminary) Info for the HUD of the F1CR, CT, EH

Digital readouts on the top:

airspeed KIAS ___________ heading tape ____________ baro altitude

mach number _____________________________________ radar altitude (NAV and A/G)

tgt closure speed (kts, with rdr lock) _____________________ range to next WP and WP #, OR tgt radar range in NM

 

windshield-mounted radar lock and weapon shoot lights are inactive or limited (in-range/shoot light will work with LGB ARM only - certain types)

HUD changes with missiles:

- missiles selected, you have the inverted T "aircraft" symbol to show where the boresight radar and missile seeker look and below it,

2 missile symbols: two small circles with a "tail" -  indicate missiles present and ready

if the missile seeker sense a target a seeker acquisition symbol appears on top of the missile rdy symbols (shaped like a "house")

if inside range and G-limits a in-range circle will appear around the aircraft symbol (this is the new Shoot indication)

- With last missile of a particular type (radar or IR) fired the missile ready and seeker symbols will disappear = no missiles left

- Gunsight reticle doesnt have the rangebar anymore (a trade-off for having the HUD missile and shoot symbols)

- CCIP rocket elevation adjusted for ravenclaws SNEB missiles (used by LR F1, 2 and 4 pods)

 

KNOWN issues :

Cockpit layout is a mix of several types (for now).

The available weapon indicator lights are working only partially (its WIP)

The stand-by compass is not working (set to be fixed)

1000 other things ... :blink:
