Popular combat jets in service December 2015

US F-16 Fighting Falcon, F-18 and Sukhoi Su-27/30 family of fighter jets are ranked most popular combat aircraft in the world.

According to a report published by Flight International analytical center Monday, US F-16 fighter jet makes up 16 per cent with 2264 jets ranked at number one is followed by F-18 with 1,047 aircraft making up seven per cent jets around the world.

With as many as 858 aircraft, US made F-15 fighters rank fourth making up six per cent.

Among the rest of the combat aircraft ranked under 10, Mikoyan MiG-29 ranked fifth with 819 aircraft, Mig-21 ranked sixth with 551 operational aircraft followed by Su-25 with 503 fighters at seventh, Chinese made F-5 with 482 aircraft, F-7 with 459 aircraft and J-7 fighter jet with 418 aircraft are ranked eighth, ninth and 10th positions......................
