Squad -new EA tactical fps

EA as in early access, not Electronic Farts

 

Picked this one up yesterday, anyone plays it? Seems interesting already, sort of alternative to Arma series (but no vehicles so far that I notices) and Insurgency, men that one went down fast. Downside -mostly German or French players servers and bit too high ping for me, your mileage will vary. Player sides divide into organized fire teams, with up to 50-70 players per map

 

For me it has that original OPF/Resistance vibe to it (that Arma lost around A2) with the general battlefield (sounds, effects, environemt impact) having bit of @SLX mod feel to it. Some might find it interesting

Uhhh clarification - I meant "German and French" as in native language speaking players and es tut mir leid mein Deutsch kein perfect meine Herren

Yeah, I bet it's very good.  In fact it is the real successor to the Project Reality mod for good old Battlefield 2.  Just google Project Reality, it is now a standalone game, you can download it and play for free, it uses the Battlefield 2 engine pushed to its limits, so it is a bit heavy on FPS, not as much as the new Squad game though (unfortunately my old PC can't handle Squad).  And Project Reality, much like Squad, is in continuous development, but is a more finished product now (now it is currently v1.3.9).

 

BTW, I said Squad is the successor of Project Reality because part of the team that developed PR is now developing Squad.

I didn't know that, it's a pity.  I usually enjoy it in SP/Coop mode due to my bad internet connection, but it's boring after a while.
