+Wrench Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 WIP for 116th FIS, F-86A (yeah, did the easy part first ... tail will be more diffucult) 2
Geary Posted February 11, 2016 Author Posted February 11, 2016 Wrench, Love your USAFE unit art work on the F-86A models. Outstanding! You've plugged an important hole in the '50s European theatre with these and the F-86F skins. Thanks. Got a question on the A model cockpit. Is it supposed to have the gray line down the middle of the windshield?
+Crusader Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 Yes. Early F-86A had a 2-piece windshield with a "hard edge". The line is where the 2 pieces meet.
Geary Posted February 11, 2016 Author Posted February 11, 2016 Crusader, Thanks. Glad it stays. I was having a devil of a time trying to figure out how to get rid of it and keep the glass.
+Wrench Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 yes, the windscreen had a kind of "V" shape to it, which unfortunately, the external model is lacking. But the view out from the pit is pretty correct. The E and later had the single piece flat panel, as seen in the new cockpit, and all the external views of the aircraft. in the image below, you can (just barely) make out the shape of the 2-piece windscreen
