X8X8X Posted May 30, 2016 Posted May 30, 2016 Hello, Something rather strange happened: By disabling ITT (Intel Turboboost Technology) in my Bios (i7-4700MQ) I gained some FPS in basically any game. Cannot really explain it, but the effects in e. g. Assetto Corsa, The Crew and especially FSX are tremendous. Hope it may help some others as well. Best regards, X8X8X
+MigBuster Posted May 30, 2016 Posted May 30, 2016 Could be to with the delay when the CPU ramps up the speed. So are all your cores now running at the turboboost speed or the standard speed - as in are you overclocking at all?
+Fubar512 Posted May 31, 2016 Posted May 31, 2016 Turbo boost sacrifices the number of cores available in order to achieve it's maximum clock speed. So, in a title that utilizes all four cores (ie, FSX), you may only be offering up two cores out of your i7's physical cores under heavy demand. Some overclockers get around this by locking all four cores to whatever maximum their CPUs and cooling solutions allow. http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/forced-induction-intel-turbo-boost-works-technology-explained/ 1
