Need help in understanding what an unmodded Mod Folder is

Recommended Posts

Currently I have all the SF2 series games installed in my D drive.->3rdwire ->

The D rive is where my application files are to run the different games.

I also noticed in my C drive -> Users -> Saved games -> 3rdwire -> SF2, SFV, SFE, SFI, SFNA...

So when they say

"installing this expansion pack to an unmodded SF2V Mod Folder"

Option 1

Do I install the Vietnam file to the SFV file in the D->3rdwire -> SF2, SFV, SFE, SFI, SFNA...

OR

Option 2

Do I install the Vietnam file to the SFV file directly into the C->user-> Saved games -> 3rdwire -> SFV file

OR

Option 3

Do I create another file called SFV_Mode in the same directory.

for example  C->user-> Saved games -> 3rdwire -> SF2, SFV, SFV_mode SFE, SFI, SFNA...

Or

None of the above,,,insert correct path here.

In future I plan to install many more SFV files for skins ,terrains textures,...etc etc....

So how do I setup the mod folder without jeopardizing the original in case of error.

Every game has a Mod folder. SF2:NA, SF2:Vietnam, SF2:Europe all have one. What YOU want to is make a copy of your Vietnam one. So you'll have two of three or whatever Vietnam installs. Like everything in computers, the copies must have a different name than your original install. This way, your original Vietnam install won't be affected. The original install will have a mod folder named: "StrikeFighters2 Vietnam". Subsequent installs must be named like "SF2V-Exp" or "StrikeFighters2Viet-Custom" or whatever you choose to name it.

In the link below, Wrench explains how to make a theater-specific WW2 install. Don't worry about the WW2 part and the stuff about "Nations.ini". He says to use the name "PTO.exe" but you could use "SF2V-Exp.exe" All you need is just a separate install. Immediately after you follow these steps, you will have a "unmodded SF2V Mod Folder" just as you need.
