Hide nodes for ground objects

Is it possible to hide nodes for ground objects? I attempted to remove some nodes from the released Clemeceau, but the following method doesn't seem to work.

unless something has changed since i asked if this could be done about 10 years ago i think the answer is no .

Yeah, like WK said, it doesn't work on ground objects.
