catch 81 Posted April 13, 2021 I like to set up my cockpit view so that I'm lined up with the gunsights where practicable or just for a more comfortable outlook if the default view doesn't suit me. I can do this with the appropriate eyepoint keys after pausing trackir but it will just revert to the default view after unpausing trackir. How can a custom head position be saved? HarryH 17 Posted April 14, 2021 Catch, you could try assigning a button on your stick to the TrackIR 'reset view' (using the TrackIR app). Then, from inside your cockpit, lean to the opposite side of your gunsight, but at the same height and distance from center (think of it like a mirror), then hit the reset button. A bit of trial and error should get you close to what you want.
catch 81 Posted April 15, 2021 By jove, that's lateral thinking. Thanks for the suggestion Harry. Unfortunately it doesn't work for me. Too much mucking about and it's not a permanent solution. So chaps, is there no way to save a custom pilot view? Eg, the default pilot view in the DH2 is nowhere near lined up with the gunsight. I'd show pics but I ain't got none. And to position oneself with trackir to line up with the sight requires gymnastic abilities I sadly no longer have. Let alone trying to control an aeroplane and dogfight at the same time. It's a pain in the neck.
Burning Beard 14 Posted April 15, 2021 On the DH2 just hit F6 and it will line you up with the gunsight, you can still look around with TracIr but you center will be the gunsight. If you want to return to the default view hit F6 again.
catch 81 Posted April 15, 2021 Thanks BB. So many things I've forgotten. Tested it out on a few kites and it works. Mapped F6 to my stick.
