as far as i know, it can only be done from the MAX file. there's a "uvmapping" or unwarpping tool or something like that. 

pretty sure there's tutorials on YouTube

i'm sure our 3d gurus will step in soon enough to clarify

Hello amariani, 

First you need a 3d max or any other 3d software in general to do mapping of a 3d model.  But if we are speaking of SF then you need 3d max 2009 and the original max file.

As for the tutorial there some good ones in the net for example this is a simple and a beginner tutorial that will give you a good start to understand the process.
