Texas Falcons: Vipers over the Lone Star State (90s Edition)

Texas Falcons:
F-16s over the Lone Star State 1990-1999

This mod represents the various models of F-16 that were in service in the Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve during the 1990s. These units include the

- 457th Fighter Squadron (Air Force Reserve) at Fort Worth
- 704th Fighter Squadron (Air Force Reserve) at Bergstrom AFB
- 111th Fighter Squadron (Texas ANG) at Ellington ANGB
- 182d  Fighter Squadron (Texas ANG) at Lackland AFB

These units have utilized a range of F-16 models over the years and a wider range of missions. The 704th deactivated in 1996, and the 111th converted to MQ-1s in 2009. But the 457th and 182d are still going strong as Viper operators today
Included
Team Viper F-16C Blocks 25, 30, 32
Modified Team Viper F-16A/B Block OCU, F-16D Block 30
new F-16A/B Block 15 ADF, F-16D Blocks 25 and 30
various period specific weapons and pilots
various ini edits to match the era
new hangar and loading screens

NOTE: The D models have very few serial numbers to each unit. most units only had one or two family models. the best use for these is to add on as a member of a flight of single seaters. The load outs are the same so you will be able to load teh same weapons.

Other Note: If there is not a two seater assigned to a unit, there will not be a D model skin for that unit. I have checked about a dozen times to be sure I wasnt missing something

Thanks for the mod, Kevin, greatly appreciated.

I am by no means an F-16 expert and I may be wrong, but I think there are a couple of errors with the new models of the F-16A/B ADF variant - I would say the shape of the tail fin is wrong on both the A and B ADF models.

F-16A/B aircraft had the shorter and narrower triangular base for the tail fin. The wider and longer triangular base was introduced with the F-16C/D Blk25 aircraft.

By looking at the F-16A/B ADF models in this mod, I would say they have the F-16C/D longer and wider triangular base for the tail fin with the ADF specific side bluges added and blade antenna removed.

On a second note, according to the F-16.net site, the F-16B ADF differed from the F-16A ADF not only in being a 2-seater, but also in the lack of a Bendix-King AN/ARC-200 high freqeuncy single-sideband radio.

The radio, being installed in the leading edge of the tail fin of the F-16A ADF lead to the flight control accumulators being relocated to the side of the tail fin.

To provide sufficient space for the flight control accumulators, 2 long bulges appeared to the side of the F-16A ADF tail fin.

Since the F-16B ADF did not have a Bendix-King radio installed, the flight control accumulators were kept in their original location and so no side bulges were needed for the tail fin.

It means, that the F-16B ADF looked much like the F-16B Blk15 OCU with just the "bird-slicer" antenna added in front of the cockpit and in front of the front landing gear well.

I have attached a couple of pictures of real F-16B ADF and a few screenshots from Mue's tool - of the F-16B ADF from this mod, of the previous F-16A ADF model from TMF, of the F-16C Blk25 with the blade antenna hidden for the purposes of illustrating my point, of the F-16B Blk15 OCU model and a couple of scrreenshots from the front to illustrate the incorrectly shaped wider triangular base of the F-16B ADF model compared with the F-16B Blk15 OCU model.

I think the older F-16A ADF from TMF had the correct size and shape of the triangular base of the tail fin and the F-16B ADF should have the same size shape but without side bulges.

I hope I will be excused for the nit-picking.

Kind regards, Svetlin

no, its a good catch. my fault for not checking closer, ravenclaw did the model but with alot of input from me

the new A was to correct a tractor beam shadow off the old model. and to be honest, i think we both thought of the B as being just like the A save for a second seat.

am forwarding this to ravenclaw, at least its caught before the bigger ADF release
