Small or Empty MOVIES.CDF which removes the Smacker .SMK movies, for Intro, Films and Cut Scenes in Career Mode.
Its a known issue that Blank Screens can appear when the Intro Movie is suppose to play.
Its a known issue that the game may crash on modern computers when the Cut Scenes try to play.
Its a BUG in MicroProse EAW Game, even the fixed up GOG type game may crash.
(It will save 284MB of HD Space when copied into your EAW main game directory, let it overwrite the previous CDF file).
Either one of these files will bypass the movie playback:
