G'Day all,

I'm trying to find some more detailed or close up photos and information about the QRC-84-02A IR Countermeasure pod.

It's the pod that used to be carried on the outboard pylon of the MC-130H/AC-130U and attached to the fuel tanks of the MC-130E before they were upgraded to DIRCM and LAIRCM.

Here's a photo.

Through some web searches, I've found that it was roughly 91" long and 10.19" in diameter.

Thanks

Dels

you could try dropping these guys a line

contact@spectre-association.org

or as their FB description goes, " Non-Profit Organization celebrating the legacy of the Mighty Spectre Gunship (All Models) "

i will admit though, it will be a coin flip. half of US veterans are happy to help, the other half will scream "TAHTS OPSEC!! YOU SHOULDNT BE ASKING TAHT!"

the funniest one for the second case was when i asked for confirmation on Kansas ANG B-1 serials in '96. a time that was 25 years prior when i asked and for a type that unit hadnt flown in over 15 years. yeah, that brought out some crazies

back to the Spectre Organization, their site is under construction and their FB page hasnt been posted on since April. but its still an avenue to check

Hi Dels, you may have come across these already, they aren't particularly high resolution or close up, but they offer some alternate angles of what looks to be a similar, if not the same pod:

also photo 9 here https://www.arcair.com/awa02/1101-1200/awa1115-AC-130-Belanger/00.shtm

and photos 20 and 21 here https://www.arcair.com/awa01/201-300/awa208-AC-130H-Deters/00.shtm

That wiki commons link you posted says that the pod is on display at the National Electronic Museum, perhaps there's a curator there who wouldn't might sending you some additional close ups of it? https://www.nationalelectronicsmuseum.org/about-us/contact/

Thanks for that! I did have the first two photos but those other ones were great.
