The Chinese bought HMAS Melbourne back in '85 for $1.4M under the guise of scrapping her and then instead studied her to advance their naval program. The Aussies removed all the electronics and weapons but unfortunately left the arresting gear, catapult and part of the landing system. Chin up sparky you gave it your best bloody shot mate, can't always be winners now can we? Sometimes the only vision with absolute clarity is hindsight.

Persident Erdogan threatening to 'shut down' Incirlik airbase.
Erik replied to SayethWhaaaa's topic in The Pub
Yep yep ... bunch of blustering from the Turks. They tried to play both ends against the middle and they lost now they want to take their toys and go home. Childish. Even worse is our administration allowing this to happen and not having any more forethought than, "what can I do for me today?" I'm disgusted by politicians everywhere. The only people who suffer are the citizens. -
Bless you.

The Russian Kuznetsov was built by an Ukrainian ship builder and they built two hulls for the Soviet Union. The Kuznetsov flag ship and its sister ship the Varyag. During the build of the Varyag the Soviet Union collapses and the Varyag remained in the Ukraine for a decade before being purchased by a prominent business man Xu Zengping. The Ukrainian ship builder was prohibited by the Russian government from selling the hull for military use but along comes Xu Zengping who told the Ukrainian ship builder he wanted it as a floating casino. Xu went so far as to obtain a gambling license and shell company out of Macau. That license subsequently was revoked the day the Varyag was delivered to China. There's some controversy over the engine technology being installed on the ship and Xu claimed the ship came with the engines intact and all the blueprints, Russia for obvious reasons denies this. The result left Russia now extremely unhappy with the Ukrainian ship builder, a wealthy Ukrainian company, and China who just purchased their first aircraft carrier through a shell man. You can imagine how high the emotions were running during that time and it's no wonder why Russia is now at war with Ukraine and annexed Crimea. The newly formed Russia was in no position to do anything about the sale militarily especially so soon after the Soviet Union collapse but one thing was clear, China now had it's first aircraft carrier which saved them an estimated 15 years in research and development. The Soviet Union contracted, Ukrainian built, aircraft carrier hull Varyag sat mid production for a decade. Sold, it immediately entered the Chinese Navy and was commissioned the Liaoning. The scandal is still a fresh wound to Russia but with the Kuznetsov's service history the egg might be on China's face for purchasing such a floating turd. The one thing that is clear is that the Kuznetsov class aircraft carrier is generations behind in development compared to the new Ford class carrier being floated by the US. The threads that weave bind us all.

What an albatross. They've been trying to sink her for decades and she refuses to take the deep sea nap. Not sure if that's good luck or bad.

This is exactly why C7H5N3O6 was invented, because somebody somewhere had to listen to a similar version of fighting hairdressers. From CA's prospective it's annoying but I luckily get the last word and final decision, perks of the job. -CLOSED AS NON-SUPPORT RELATED-

StrikeFighters2 backup files do not work
Erik replied to Avrillav's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Like Russouk2004 said his SF2 is pointing at the stock folder with the stock planes in it. He needs to change it so it points to the folder he created from his backup. At least that's how I decipher it.- 9 replies

Now that things are solved I have to say when I first saw this topic I had a whole different expectation of what I'd see when I opened it. -
I don't think that will work. A lot thought the same of Israel and Palestine but that hasn't worked out well at all.

We'll never get the truth, only lies. He hears all kinds of things from people in his party, advisers, etc and he picks one he thinks will give him the best outcome to make himself look good. You can hear it in everything he says ... I did this ... I did that ... I'm the only one who can fix it (the shit he broke to begin with) .. I'm the chosen one. It's all about him not what's best for America, our troops, or heaven forbid the tax payers who pay the damned bill.

... here's the problem with it all. We're not leaving Syria. The small elite force isn't leaving, they aren't going to Iraq because they aren't welcome, so what are we doing? We're staying to protect the oil. We blew up our ordinances, left hardened bases standing, allowed the Turks to kill the Kurds, gave up our ground to the Russians and Turks all under the guise that we're coming home but we're staying. How does any of this make sense to anyone? Private bone spurs couldn't win at a game of "Battleship" against a 2 year old. Absolutely unbelievable.

He's incapable of seeing allies and foes only people who can do or won't do something for him. No matter which camp those people fit into he'll use them like a tissue and throw them away when he's done. To his detriment he's single dimensional, transactional, and self aggrandizing. The US, it's citizens, and it's laws are beneath him. NATO member countries don't stand a chance. To him our ally's countries are below the dirt he walks on, non-white, anti-christian, shit holes, but he's sure some are very fine nations. (attempt at humor) For the record most of us are completely embarrassed by his behavior regardless of political alignment.

The community doesn't want the bickering and phallus measuring, read their posts! I happen to agree. Stop bringing this crap to my table, it's insulting and very childish. You wouldn't allow this at your dinner table with your family sitting around so why should I allow it here? I enjoy you both and reading what you have to offer but if I have to make a decision between each of you, EAW with it's variations, or this community as a whole; that won't be a hard decision to make. I've hidden all the posts that don't relate to Jel's original post. I'll leave this in Stratus' capable hands and will await his final decision which I'll act on and support without question. Final warning gentlemen. Get it together. Thank you.

SF2 file update notification
Erik replied to JosefK's topic in Site Support / Bug Reports / Suggestions
It should already do this, if you change only the file. However the notification is the same for any change to the upload page; file, description, or photos. I'll look into distinguishing the notifications. -
SF2 file update notification
Erik replied to JosefK's topic in Site Support / Bug Reports / Suggestions
We do this already. 1. Follow the content. Use the button shown to get updates on when the content is updated. Of course your notification preferences must be set under your profile to receive those notifications and if notification by email we have your proper email address on file. 2. The download section is sorted by default to most recently updated content on top. Scrolling to the SF2 download section would show you all the updates and uploads in recent times. 3. The activity button on the top menu. There you sort content on the site for most recently updated and you can also use that section for many other useful ways to parse the site. 4. We send you a notification of a file that you may be interested in just because you reviewed it or downloaded it sometime ago. All of the above are true statements except number 4. We don't send junk email or spam to anyone for any reason. Have fun out there! E -
Hen, that perception always confused me especially after the $85 Billion in military assistance. Sure there were a few scuffles and petty disagreements but those happen in any good relationship. The US Ambassador to Israel, Dan Shapiro, wrote a piece for the Washington Post. I would suggest to give it a read: https://www.washingtonpost.com/posteverything/wp/2017/05/19/israelis-cheered-for-trump-but-they-may-miss-obama-more-than-they-expected/
