It has long been a standing rule here at CombatACE that we simply do not allow political discussions on our boards. Over the past year or so we've become a little more relaxed on this policy because of the ever changing climate and events. It was considered by some a topic of discussion that we'd like to see available to those who were interested in participating. As a result we've tried a few variations where we've selectively allowed discussions to continue here in The Pub and more recently in The Arena, since removed. We feel that allowing the public access to these discussions without their ability to opt-out was in poor taste and disregarded our mission statement to provide an open and clean community for everyone to enjoy. As of this post we'd like to make the following changes and affirmations. 1. Political, religious, government leadership type discussions either in topic or reply form will not be allowed in our general community, anywhere. This is an affirmation of our mission statement concerning our general audience. Posts that are deemed to fall under these topics will be moved or removed as appropriate. 2. We have created a private discussion board for those who want to post or read the political and highly polarized discussions that our community wishes to participate in. This private forum will be by opt-in participation only. This means that if you wish to join the discussions or have access to them you must reply to this post with an acknowledgment to opt-in. We will then, as time permits, grant access to that forum on a per-member basis. We feel this arrangement will allow the best of both worlds to exist while keeping in focus our goals and objectives. We hope you understand and can appreciate the often difficult positions we can encounter in a global community like this. The political topics will be a more loosely moderated discussion board. The premise is to allow open communication and view points without the need to feel moderated. A further list of benefits and guidelines is available after joining. Reply with "Include Me" in your post. Those who do NOT want to be included do not need to do anything. By default these discussions are hidden from the general membership.

SF2 Skins - have they been accidentally moved?
Erik replied to Spinners's topic in Site Support / Bug Reports / Suggestions
I've had no feedback on misplaced categories or files so I'm assuming no news is good news. -

SF2 Skins - have they been accidentally moved?
Erik replied to Spinners's topic in Site Support / Bug Reports / Suggestions
The files are all restored to their respective correct categories. Please let me know if you find anything out of place and please be specific with links where possible and where it needs to be filed. I'll ask the other moderators to review the downloads for correctness as well. Thank you. -

Something happened moving an old section around. We'll get it figured out shortly. -
I concur with Firefox and what's been mentioned including sentiment. Ur Browser, Brave, and Opera would be on my list as well.

2022 Donation and Membership Drive Valued CA Members and Friends, It has been 3 years since CA last asked for your support and I'm here today to do exactly that. Please take a moment to renew old subscriptions, sign up for a subscription, or donate today. We appreciate all your support today and throughout the years. Buy New Subscription Manage Your Subscription Give Donation A note for our overseas friends and family. PayPal is changing the way it will handle foreign transactions. The details they have shared state: "U.S. business accounts (like CA) will not be able to receive personal transactions from PayPal accounts outside the U.S. starting October 31, 2022. U.S. PayPal accounts will not be able to send personal transactions to business accounts outside the U.S. starting October 31, 2022." We do not know if this means you can't use your credit card or bank card instead of the funds in your PayPal account or if it's an entire block. Now and up to October 31, 2022, you shouldn't notice any changes.

Yankee Air Pirate knowingly pirates' models and content from this site to use and sell as their own. It is not a noble or honest venture. The intellectual property belonging to the authors on this site, your friends, and colleagues, deserves more consideration than an open discussion in support of YAP. Piracy is not a victimless crime.

To continue the original discussion some of the more unsavory ads have been removed entirely. You should see less porn, politics, and sexually charged ads. Some will inevitably sneak through but I'm hoping the ad content will improve. Thanks for letting me know.

That's a tricky question to answer for two reasons 1) As a Google Ads publisher we are discouraged from discussing the financial aspects; 2) I wouldn't know how to gauge what the impact of one person would be. However, what I can do is discuss our finances. Income from Google Ads makes up 15-20% of our monthly operating budget, subscriptions make up 25-30%, and donations make up 5-7%. That's why I run membership drives, but we haven't done one since early 2019. Since the pandemic, crazies tried to overthrow our government, Russia invading Ukraine, and our world melting around us due to climate change I haven't had the heart to ask.
-
If the income could be replaced, I'd remove the ads all together. The site is an out-of-pocket expense every month, even with revenue we generate, pulling the ads would just add to that burden. In addition to that Google has taken over the ad space and they use what's now called "auto ads". Where I used to have the ability to customize the use, that's all been discontinued. I don't even have the option of creating a user that would be ad-free. I'd have to turn off Google Ads completely. However, I can request reviews at the publisher level which may get better results than reporting them.
-
I'm sorry this is happening to you. We have no control over the interest-based delivery of ads. Google ads is what we use and they clearly state that the ads you are reporting are the ads they don't allow, which is a big reason we use them. See their description of ads that are not supposed to be allowed here: https://support.google.com/adspolicy/answer/6015406?hl=en. If this is happening then I will need to start reporting them and the best way to do that is to take a screenshot of the ads in place on the page you're viewing. So if you want to help me report this stuff please post your screenshots here. In the meantime I can work on way to remove ads from the site.

I bet you're a real hit with all the businesses in your area.

The simple answer to this is it depends on your abilities and knowledge of Linux based machines. However, it is possible to run a Windows Virtual Machine on a Linux machine so in theory you could do it.

Is Third Wire still active ?
Erik replied to MK2's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Hi MK, if you view his profile on the left column his email address will be available to you as an administrator. https://combatace.com/profile/51-tk_thirdwire/ I can't guarantee it still works but it was a direct line of communication with him at one point.
