Not sure which section has 37 pages of files, at least I couldn't find it. The problem isn't making the categories but moving all the files. What you're asking is a huge undertaking. It's like redesigning the whole dewey decimal system. I'll kick it around with the guys and see if we can figure out how to move 5000 files around. No promises though. E

A 500 error can be anything. Basically it's a loss of connection to the server. Looking at our logs I don't see where we have any connectivity issues tonight. Could be browser related, or internet related. If you're using Internet Explorer try using FireFox. Sometimes the security settings in IE don't work to well. E

The image size or video size is unlimited so it should not matter if an image is above 1MB. I must say that a 1MB image is big but it still shouldn't matter. E

Yes please. ... here's your sign. (Credit: Foxworthy) The main forum current tile is "Wings Over Israel / Wings Over Europe / Wings Over Vietnam / Strike Fighters" and it works well because a search engine actually sees those and gives us better indexing because of it. Bad indexing would be if we shortened the name to "WO*/SF" because people are less likely to search for WO* versus their product like Wings Over Vietnam. That in mind I wouldn't want to see a main forum title that wasn't search engine friendly, sub-forums are another story they can be whatever and it won't matter. I wouldn't change the name to Thirdwire Series as it limits the search returns. We could and probably should include Thirdwire Series in the main title but I remember when I changed the names a while back that it was incredibly long and adding Thirdwire made it longer. Since we get less hits from Thirdwire searches than we do from the specific game title I left it off. If we wanted to correct something I suppose we should do something like. Wings Over Israel / Wings Over Europe / Wings Over Vietnam / Strike Fighter / Thirdwire

Are the files different so that they can't be used in either version? If so then maybe a division is necessary but highly kludgy as our download section is pretty well defined as it is. Imagine duplicating all those file areas just for a new release of SF. I'd probably want to favor just asking that the files that are SF version specific be labeled as such and let the downloader verify that he's getting the file for the right SF series. Of course we're open to views on the subject. Erik

Remember gentlemen -- As you put calendar events on the calendar you'll need to contact one of the OFF Moderators like OvS to have them approve the calendar event. To do this he will need to view the OFF Multiplayer Calendar. (Click "Calendar" above in the site menu > The default CombatACE calendar comes up. Directly below the big calendar in the middle of the page there is a drop-down box to change your view. Select OFF Multiplayer Calendar > The OFF MP Calendar will appear. The calendar events that are not approved will be purplish/red. > Click that event and you will see the moderator tools just like the posts here to "approve / make visible" a topic. > Click approve and it appears to the public and should not be publish/red anymore. I say this because I noticed an event that hasn't been approved yet. Just me ... E

No sir. I have created a new calendar for OFF. You can access it by clicking the Calendar link above. Once on the calendar page it will display the community calendar by default. You'll need to find the drop down menu in the middle of the page below the calendar to change it to the OFF MP calendar. There anyone can add events to the calendar but it will take a moderator like OvS to approve them. You can set single events, recurring events, etc so it should be pretty easy to manage. Once the calendar is set up you can have all the guys just look at the RSS feed for the OFF MP calendar. The RSS Feeds are available on any page in the forums. The button is generally in the lower left corner and is bright orange. Click that button and select OFF MP Calendar and it will show you the upcoming events for the upcoming 7 days. Give it a try and we can modify if necessary from there. Erik

I have to admit I know nothing about the current existing climate of what is or is not happening in the OFF M/P World. I thought you guys were all in need of a place to call your own which is why I offered to help. I do not know who "outlaw" is. Is this a member here that hosts his own TS server and admins it too? My plan was to put a TS server up for you guys to use that will always be there and give you guys a meeting place that's all your own with multiple channels for people to move around in talk, game, or whatever else you wanted. In looking for Admins I was looking for people who could be server admins (SA) on the server. These people authorize things like registration, creating, removing channels, etc etc. There is nothing special about them or their software just that they can be trusted to handle the job and have some working knowledge of how to do things like allowing other players to register, etc. If Outlaw is hosting his server privately maybe he'd just want to take over administering a server here instead. I don't know but will wait for feedback from you guys. Getting the guys to move to a new TS server is completely up to each of you not sure I can or would be any help with that aspect of things. I'm just the guy who can connect boxes and services to really fast duplexing signals. E

I moved the above response from a thread because I didn't see someone had created this topic. This is a bump because moved posts don't bump topics.

When you reply or start a new topic the site will open a new window with a text editor (read: place you type). Just below that you'll see the attachment system which allows you to upload files from your machine to your attachment space then add them into your posts as images. That is the easiest way but it also uses up your attachment space alotment. The attachment alotment can fill up which means continued use requires you to remove older attachments which is fine but removing them also removes them from the posts you put them in. I've found it is better to start your own gallery in the gallery section which allows you to upload an unlimited amount of photos and media both of which can be linked into your posts the same as an attachment. Alright well lets just jump in on this and figure out where and how this is going to work. I'm going to install a static IP Teamspeak server for you OFF guys. This means you'll have your own static server that will always have the same IP address and it means that you guys don't have to host a TS server while trying to play. To make this work correctly I'd like to have maybe 5 or so key players that we can enlist to admin the server. I would like folks who are familiar with TS Servers and who the community generally sees as being online hosts or leaders. These people may be called on by the people on teamspeak to either change it's configuration and in general just make sure it's being used properly and without abuse. We'll need some sort of community password established that folks can find and remember. This will allow the server some privacy from outside interruptions. Let me know and we'll consider this step on in getting something setup for you guys. E

I'd go take a good look there as most of your questions can and have been answered. Granted it's not as immediate as getting specific help but it sure is more fun learning how to modify the Sim to your preferences.
