Wow!!! I was a weee lad watching the americanized translated version in the 70's. I always loved the anime and especially the Yamato. It now seems a remake was due especially with newer 3D technologies to realize it. I'll have to hit the local asian mall to pick up a copy once its released. I would love to see a realtime Macross produced. That would melt my brain and make me happy. The GAIKING video has been around for a while.... I think it was a proof of concept to raise money for a full production. I'm just happy the Asian SCI-FI genres are hitting the mainstream again.

Personalised Skins for non-Skinners by Hobby-Skinners
Hellman replied to Olham's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
I totally understand Louvert as I am a professional graphic designer myself and I have been "ripped" off a few times. I guess I will start from scratch or not bother with it at all and do some skins for RoF as .psd templates are available for that sim and my time is unfortunately limited at the moment. When I did many skins for a MAC based flight-sim way back in the day I gave away my templates and watermarked a logo on it and peops were generally good about keeping it on the skins they made and giving credit as It was a pretty small and tight-knit community.... I guess it's different here. If I decide to move forward on OFF skinning I was wondering if the resolution is scaleable for the skins as the current RESOLUTION makes it difficult for a lot of detail? Thanks anyway. -
Personalised Skins for non-Skinners by Hobby-Skinners

This might be a tad off topic but I thought this might be a good place to ask. Where would one find layered photoshop templates for skinning in OFF. I don't see any in the download section and I have tried searching but no joy. Any help would be appreciated. It would save me loads of time creating from scratch. I'm looking for the Sopwith's, Se5a, Nieuport's and spads. Thanks in advance. -
Will do dave. Here's a link to the link of the "BETA" manual (2nd post... not sure I can directly link it here) which of course is still not finished but it will give you an idea of how complete this sim will be and give you a chance to read up on the A10C. Its about 700 pages deep! Lots of posts too in regards to questions about the "BETA". http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=58315

I have purchased the Beta but have not yet had time to install it . My understanding is that the difficulty level is scaleable and that there is even an arcade type mode like the one in DCS: Blackshark which I believe to be similar to the SF2 series in easy mode. I'm not sure if these modes have yet been implemented in the Beta. I will have more time on Thurs. to explore. The training missions are supposed to be included but i'm not sure if they are all finished yet. Hope this helps.

OFF on Mac with Windows 7?
Hellman replied to Selfpropelled's topic in WOFF 1 2 3 / UE - General Help
Hey Uncleal, I followed the FAQ's and the Terrain slider is set to 4. I had to redo the whole installation as I wanted a clean install so I followed all the Instructions listed in the FAQ with regards to slider values and ATI settings. It's all working great. A little reading goes a long way. -
OFF on Mac with Windows 7?
Hellman replied to Selfpropelled's topic in WOFF 1 2 3 / UE - General Help
I recently upgraded my work-horse and migrated my flight siming to this and am successfully running OFF on a 1st generation MacPro (2 x 3ghz Dual core Intel Xeon) under bootcamp with windows 7 and it purrrrrs like a kitten. I running an ATI Radeon HD 4870 with 6gb of Ram everything on high and have not had any problems. Your only bottleneck might be the video card. Hope this helps. -
Hello, After 3 failed attempts at making a profile for OFF I was wondering if anyone would be kind enough to share their X52.pro profile with me. I tried a search to find one but had no luck. Thanks in advance.
-
Roger that Winston! I'm not about to spend the $$$ on a new Logitech HOTAS with FFB when I have a perfectly good X52pro with TiR and pedals to boot. I do however appreciate Uncleal's comment as I race with a G52 which has FFB and it is much more immersive indeed. I haven't even seen the new Logitech HOTAS for sale here in Canada yet so I have no options as I wont fly WW1 without pedals. I am curious though as Uncleal doesn't seem to use pedals which for me definitely ads more to the immersion, especially with WW1 birds, than an inaccurate FFB model would. Is it after all even close to feeling what the real thing is? I have had about 10hrs flying in a Piper Cherokee and something tells me that any available FFB stick on the market could never emulate what the real deal is. Anyway I'm off to race some Slot cars.... far from the immersion of racing real cars but very fun... which is what we are all after anyway.

I am looking for an OFF version of reality......What HOTAS system are you flying in your OFF version of reality??? I'm trying to get some immersion and unfortunately I own an x52pro, hence my dilemma.
-
Ummmm..... o.k. Care to elaborate on that comment. Its a tad cryptic. Je ne comprend pas. No need anymore.... I found a back-up of the missing profile I made awhile back. No replies anyway.

I finally received my copy of OFF and was wondering if anyone had an X-52 pro profile to share, specifically for OFF.

Thinking of Buying Over Flanders Field
Hellman replied to outfctrl's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
I must say I was really hesitant to delve into OFF and make this purchase as I had a real headache with CFS3 and shelved it soon after flying a few hours (moved to IL2 the very next day). I purchased FE recently and started to enjoy the whole WW1 experience but found the immersion factor to be a bit lacking (still fun for a quick dogfight though). I started reading, watching docs and even a couple of hollywood movies on WW1 aviation and found myself fascinated with how these early aviators and planes developed. That being said... I finally decided to purchase OFF as the summer special ads were all over SIMHQ and CA and haven't let go of my HOTAS yet! It takes a little patience and a lot of tweaking (still working on my X52 profile and difficulty levels). The immersion factor is unparalleled and the flight models are a real challenge. The best part is the helpful gents that hang out here and the amount of info here to help you on your way. The purchase of CFS3 finally has some value. All you need is a little patience and a lot of practice and you won't be disappointed. Quite simply the best experience in a SIM I have had to date on a PC. -
Thanks for all your help CS, Between trying to buy a condo (very tough here in Toronto) and other real life matters I've managed to log in a few hours of flying time and slowly increase my skills with this wonderful sim. I've managed to make many hits on those pesky bandits I face but most of them land, with a few disintegrating as they fall from the sky. I have a few cheats enabled like the labels and the cone but have started to use the padlock less and TiR4 more as I get used to things as the padlock can become disorientating at times. My current computer is at its edge running this sim at about 15-30 fps; low to medium detail settings. I'm an Apple guy by day (I do graphic design and some web work) and bought a used ShuttleX (very compact) that's now about 5 yrs. old (for website testing) and maxed it out with RAM and a better video card order to fly all the wonderful Flight-Sims you PC gents have. It's great to find a solid community here and all the help is very much appreciated. I am still working on an X52 profile that works best for me and will post it when I have finished. Eventually I'll have a go at some skinning (as personal time permits) and give something back to this OFF haven. Cheers,

After reading the glowing reviews for OFF I took advantage of the summer special and I am anxiously waiting for my copy. It's been 7 days and I haven't received my DVD yet. I have no USPS number to track this order! USPS and CPS share tracking #'s I thought this would be a good place to ask. I live In Toronto and I have never had to wait this long for any kind of internet purchase. I gave my residential address but haven't received a notification of any kind (should have used the office ;P) Not sure where to go or who to ask as I contacted Avangate (they say they only handle the money transaction) and to contact support @ OFF. Their website tracking says its been delivered, but clearly it has not and they have directed me to OFF for "product delivery" support but I can't find an email for that either. I made this purchase this through Pay Pal so I'm not too worried about the money. Just wondering when I'll be able to fly.... Can anybody help? Don't want to post my reference number or Product reference number here until I know what my next step is. LOL.... Just opened my mail and the Bill is here for this purchase.

WOW! Thanks, That post should be a Sticky.... Great tips! After a few beers..... My flying has Improved ten fold. I'm learning to lead my shots much more accurately, I am using a padlock as finding targets with the losenge camo has been real tough. I haven't put any labels on which makes a furball really indecisive and I keep switching from target to target so as to not fly in a straight line and hoping I get a snapshot on what ever happens to fly through my sights while making sure it's not a friendly. Its a great feeling flying these old birds.... kudos to ODB I still have probs with my x52 but learning a little patience with these old birds has started to work out. I managed a few kills on 12vs12 with the Se5a. I'm still trying to keep things on a medium level. Late here... hitting the silk... Cheers.

Hi Check Six, I tried mapping the controls from the jpeg in your post and got most functions to work. Some aren't recognized though? I've input the keystrokes but I'm not sure if I need to choose the "Macro" Function in order for them to work. What version of the SST software are you using? the pic you posted looked as if it was the older version which isn't compatible with the newer version. dat or pro? I've only had a few hours flying time and I find the x52 really sensitive. It's hard to get a bead on the bandits and I'm using pedals and TiR4. I have yet to make a kill :helpsmilie: Your help is appreciated.... Thanx.

Its been a crazy few days of weather here in Toronto. The twisters touched down about 30 minutes north of Downtown. quite a few houses were destroyed and an 11 yr. old boy was killed. Driving around downtown today I saw many trees uprooted and there are more warnings for this eve.
-
Hi CheckSix, Thanks for the reply... I couldn't find a download link for the profile. It would be a great starting point for me and would help save me some flying time as I'm not too great with the Saitek software. I'm sure your profile will probably suit my needs. Is their somewhere to DL it? Cheers.

It arrived today! Just installed it and now configuring it. Does anybody have an x52 .pro profile they would like to share?

Just checked out the pilots map and noticed some fellow Torontonians! and a few southern Ontario chaps.

Heya Olham, I've have already done all my homework regarding OFF and have even DL'd the necessary patches. I have even started a new custom S.E.5a PJ. I'm flying some FE to keep me busy in the meantime. I know its a huge DVD.... 15gb uncompressed, if I'm not mistaken but a "Downloadable Option" would have been great.

A fellow Canuck! Heya Fawlty, Another day and no DVD Yeah, I placed my order on Aug. 9 and my pdf receipt from them is dated Aug. 10. Usually my orders from the US take 7 days max. I guess I'll wait patiently and hope it gets here before my holiday as well and before my VISA payment is due. next week. Cheers!

I read in some thread or review here some chap across the pond received his in 3 days. Thanx for the replies Gents! It helps put me @ ease... I guess I'm a little impatient as I have already received my VISA statement and following this forum as well as reading and watching a few docs/films on WW1 aviation while flying TK's FE... I really admire the courage those early pioneers must have had... 11 days average lifespan as a pilot... some crazy s**t. I really enjoyed Aces High with Alex Delarge (Malcolm McDowell) and the doc Four Years of Thunder... some of the most stunning and authentic footage ever assembled on this subject. Do Pay Pal do e-beers? I look forward to flying OFF once I get it. Can't wait to do some custom PJ's too
