  1. It is working independently of the plane type It is utilising one of our unused runway types to make this possible
  2. Stuck. EAW on windows 7

A tutorial My 129 folder: Run the Dirset Picker: Select Spanish Air War: Click "Fly" Opening screen: Click "Single Mission" Select your plane: Hangar screen for the Set-up menu: Note the Set-up menu with the mouse at the bottom middle Mission parameters: Set up the mission and click "OK" Hangar screen again to select "Fly": Note the Fly menu with the mouse at the bottom left In the air I made these screenies for this tutorial post, so I did not complete the mission: Jel
  3. Stuck. EAW on windows 7

My "enter dance" theory Up to 1.28c the selection screens were 640 x 480 pixels. EAW has an intro video, and some others that run in 640 x480. The intro video does not work in 1.28D or later because we made the screens 1024x768 as people were using larger monitors. It needs the intro video option turned off I just ran a 1.29 setup similar to yours and it was fine. Then I edited the "eaw.ini" file to turn play intro on ============================ [EAW] ExtraSquads=0 KeyboardLanguage=0 FlakAccuracy=2 FlakRof=2 HudFontSize=1 GunSightSize=1024 OldStyle=1 GroundBattle=1 OldDamage=0 ComputedGunsight=1 EnemyEncounter=0 FriendlyEncounter=0 ColourAxis=3 ColourAllied=3 BirdSeed=0 QuickVersion=0 PlayIntro=1 PlayerPlane=22 PlayerNation=0 This time I heard the intro video sound, but with a black screen, and the game only kicked in when I hit "Enter". You need to set PlayIntro=0 in order to turn it off

Can't you select a single mission? With the DirSet Picker you can select an exe and a theatre. Most of the theatres have plane-sets so you need to select a plane-set too. There is the opportunity to select no theatre or plane-set and fly default, but you should always able to select "Single Mission" from the main screen. It is wise to make sure things are working before you try a career. In the history of EAW a number of theatres were released without appropriate career files.
  5. Stuck. EAW on windows 7

That description makes me think that it is one of my "no screen" exes for people who have PCs that cannot display the EAW selection screens. I recall writing similar instructions :) Can you post the link?
  6. Stuck. EAW on windows 7

They are full installs, but try to get one of the early versions going before you try 160. 160 has replaced 150 and I have a two part installation for it. The first part gives you a full working installation with the ETO theatre and plane-set. Once it is working the second part expands it to give you a number of theatres and planesets.
  7. The six 7-zip Self installers of the EAW Program Use this link: Older Installations #1. EAW126.exe: Gives you a 1.26E folder with no addons. The 1.2-E exe is effectively a 1.2 exe with a no CD crack and some other modifications which I can no longer remember. #2. EAW12X-126E.exe: Gives you what is effectively a 1.26E folder with OAW. OAW only has the two "E-" folders available so the user can pick either the 1.26E exe or the 1.2X exe from the code group with the 7217 fix The default ETO theatre is used. #3. 128eFAW2016.exe: Gives you a stand-alone folder with the 2016 version of Finnish Air War. It includes the FAW manager. The EAW exe used is a 1.28e version, dated the 27th November 2016, which was compiled by the code group. #4. EAW129 July2016: Gives you a stand-alone UAW1.29 installation It has the old and new map versions of the 1.29 exe, and 9 different theatres. BoB, DAW, ETO with planesets, Malta, Ray's 2015 ETO, SWOTL, SPAW, SAW, ETO Trains and barges. The "DSP128-9.exe" is provided as the file-manager. There is a file in the LongDirSets folder named "Mediterranean Air War (Malta and North Africa)" which should have been removed as it causes a CTD when selected. DAW and Malta are there in any case. However,DAW has the original dodgy planeset with some aircraft having the wrong nationality. The Malta theatre is just about the same, but has a more realistic planeset. #5. 1.28c_JellyPack.exe: Installs 1.28c with the DirSetExeManagerV5. filemanager. This enables you to select one of three versions of the eaw.exe, and eight theatres in addition to the default 1.28C ETO theatre which had the Allied Carrier. The theatres are DAW, KAW, Malta, Russia-Germany (winter), SWOTL, SPAW, SPAW45 and SAW. #6. 129EAW640x480.exe: This installs the special version of the 1.29 old map exe which uses 640x480 screens. It has a filemanager and a number of experimental WIP theatres that Moggy was working on. These were added to test the exe, but some are of little use as they are incomplete There is also the 1.28c version of VBH's Pacific Tide III. This version of the 1.29 exe was made for modders who want to re-vamp old theatres and use the 640x480 screens, but allowing the additional features of UAW1.29 to be used if required. Possible issues: You may need the VB runtime files for the filemanagers and OAW. Let me know if there are any problems Jel
  8. Stuck. EAW on windows 7

Did you try any of the full installations from the link I posted?
  9. Stuck. EAW on windows 7

Try this link for the older installations: SHQ post Many of them give you a complete set-up, all you need is a working eaw.ini file.
  10. Stuck. EAW on windows 7

From where on earth did you get a 1.28 version to install? I have several EAW downloads available running from EAW1.28c to UAW160. What exactly do you want to install? Please note that I am currently touring Brittany, checking out places that are targets in the EAW ETO theare. Right now I am in a village not far from Lorient. Because of the touring I do not always have access to a reliable internet connection. Jel
  11. EAWPRO NoCD version

Bob check your PMs at SimHQ
  12. EAWPRO NoCD version

There are several "one click" downloads available including a 1.26e and a full 1.2. However, on this Win10 laptop they need a wrapper to avoid the 7217 error, as does EAWPro.
  13. EAWPRO NoCD version

People seem to have forgotten this:
  14. One plausible theory is that Glenn Miller's plane was hit by RAF bombs in a special bomb release zone in the English Channel. Many years after the event a RAF rear gunner had been listening to a BBC doco about Miller's disappearance. When he heard the details checked his log-book, because he remembered seeing a small US plane below them at the time of release. The log book date and time matched. It is believed that the US pilot was new, and may not have known about the "no-go" zone where bombs could be jettisoned when missions were aborted due to bad weather.
  15. Menu Parameter Selection Fix

Are you going to make the exe available for the users with more recent operating systems?
  16. VM Machine on Win 10

My PC has a bay like the one you describe. It is connected to the motherboard just like HDDs are. I have a 1Terabyte internal HDD with no operating system installed. All of my EAW folders are on it, and much more. Turning on the PC makes it boot from the operating system HDD that is in the bay. If I want to change the O/S then I shut down, the the HDD out of the bay, insert a new one and reboot.
  17. VM Machine on Win 10

Agreed Mark, that is how my system works with two Win 7 HDDs and one Win 10 HDD. I have an XP install disk but when I tried to install XP on another HDD the installation failed because of the more advanced graphics card in the PC. Otherwise I would be running XP, and programming the exe on an XP drive. As it stands I have an Oracle VM VirtualBox running XP on the Win 10 drive for programming. The VM graphics driver CTDs if I try to run EAW, so the saved exe goes into a folder that is accessible from both the VM and the Win 10 folder. Then I copy and paste it into the UAW160 folder for testing.
  18. European Air War in 2019

I encountered problems with XP. For EAW programming I run XP on a virtual machine on my Win10 drive. However, the graphics driver for the VM cannot handle EAW on the VM. I use a caddy for my HDDs so I tried to install XP on an old HDD, It failed because there was no drivers available that are suitable for my graphics card. Jel
  19. I disagree that it was deliberately taken off course. One suggestion directly relating to the topic was that the ETO theatre could be modded with more AAA at the airfields used by the 262s. In a response VBH discouraged people from using my editors to do this, which implied that there is a problem with them. This was the statement that took the thread off course. It needed to be challenged, and it was.
  20. In my screenie the carrier is a base and I flew a mission in a MB-3 The Wildcat is TMod81 and there is a value in the "TMod081.dat" file that sets the height if certain other conditions are met. The beauty of this is that there is no need to mess with the Z value of the 3dz. We can have Wildcats on the ground at airbases, or on carrier decks, or at any required height using this system. We took the TMod table out of the exe, put the default one in a "TMod.dat" file, to which we added additional values so that a line of data is 70 bytes. The exe reads "TMod.dat" and then reads any individual files such as "TMod081.dat", which is 74 bytes in length due to a four byte header. I cannot see you being able to get EAWPro to use new types of external files, with some complex conditional code to run routines that use the data in them. I can see the structure of your exe, and I can see the limitations that it imposes. What you have done despite these limitations is excellent. The point of the discussion is that you advised people not to use my editors, which implied that they were unreliable. Now you have changed your tune, and I agree that without a good understanding of how EAW works editing targets would be difficult for a newbie. It is the complexity of the EAW structure that is the problem, not the editors.
  21. Here's a shot with four Wildcat TMods parked out of the way, and the MB-3s ready for take-off:
  22. I did not edit the hit bubble table. I used a conditional routine that positions TMods on the carrier deck using a value in the "TMod.dat" file that is completely unrelated to the hit bubble. It achieved what had been requested in a much better way without having to modify any hit bubbles. What I did cannot be done the same way in 1.2 or EAWPro because there is no external TMod.dat file and no individual "TModXY.dat" files with additional values that can be edited and used in conditional routines. There are no carriers with raised decks 60 feet high.
  23. So why did you not comment in general terms to dissuade newbies from modding instead of singling out the use of my editors. The fact that you did that suggests that you were implying that there are reliability problems with my editors, whereas you are now saying that the problem is due to the complexity of EAW itself rather than with the editors.
  24. ....and their 3dz file names begin with "TMod".
  25. The targets and TMods are independent of the terrain tiles, so they will always show up
