  1. Cessna Ground Speed Check

Thank you, Erik. A great story. You made me smile on a very tiring day.
  2. Silence speaks volumes...

    Very sad. Apparently it's okay.
  3. Some newbie questions

This might help with your map. Although it might do more than you want. Feel free to tinker with it. http://combatace.com/files/file/11899-new-fe2-in-flight-map/
  4. David Bowie passes away at 69

    Rest in Peace. Very sad.
  5. Sopwith Triplane question

I believe that Quack tried to do something in a nations.ini once to try and create the Albert Ball style "Lone Wolf" missions flown early in the war by creating new nation types in the nations.ini. The nation name for your Sopwith Triplane may have been one of those. Sorry I didn't remember this earlier, but this stuff happened a while ago, and my old brain forgets so much these days.
  6. Gladiator

    These all look beautiful, Geezer.
  7. What do we need?

    Second that new Breguet 14.
  8. Paris attacks - 127 reported dead

Short answer, the perpetuation of ISIS, and the creation of a radical fundamentalist Islamic state, just as their name suggests. Fundamentalist religious people feel that they answer to a "higher power" and are therefore not bound by the values of human civilization. Also, the more terrifying the incident, the longer the period of perpetuation, because retaliation begets retaliation, and the more cowed the normal people who surround you become.
  9. Paris attacks - 127 reported dead

Deepest condolences to the victim's families. Attacks like this are the ultimate expression of cowardice.

If you don't like the skins, skin it yourself. It isn't that hard. And I know you're trying to help in your own way, Crowford, but it's this kind of insistent, you need to change this, you need to change that, so your work will be perfect, commentary has driven so many modders away from working on these sims. Now that Geezer has moved on to FE WW2, because that's where his interest lies, and he has a right as a modder to follow his interests, Stephen is the only 3d modder I see working on WW1 right now. And he's providing aircraft that this sim needs, so all the community is asking you to do is not drive our only modder away with incessant demands for perfecting a model that he's providing for free, at great cost of his own time and effort. I dabbled in trying to create a simulated beer can in a free 3d program and had neither the time, nor especially the talent it takes to do it, so I can only imagine the skills it takes to create a WW1 aircraft. Since I can't do it for myself, I don't demand perfection from someone who is, in reality, giving me a very special gift, and one that I didn't even ask for. If you wish to offer help of this kind to the 3d modders, I think you should create a thread where you post information and pictures of aircraft for the modders, since you seem to have good information to offer. That way, if a modder decides to do a particular aircraft, he would have a ready source of information. Perhaps the moderators could make it a part of the information base found here.
  11. Armchair Aces updated!

Yes, the sim is old now, and has flaws. But when you fly on hard mode, and in one of Ojcar's campaigns, you'll have a great time, especially if you turn off all the cheat modes, flying just by the seat of the pants and the mark one eyeball. I've had missions where the landscape is dotted with "machines forced to land." I've had missions where the AI enemies have tried to ventilate me as I was landing with a dead engine, and other times they just circle around me like a bunch of wary sharks. And this is the only sim I know of where I can alter not only the aerodynamics of aircraft to suit my liking, based on the research I've done over the course of a lifetime, but also adjust AI behavior. I can skin by myself. Make decals myself. And as long as Stephen, Ojcar, and other people keep contributing, I'll keep thanking them, and keep flying this sim.
  12. SPAD 11 - WIP

Nice video, Geezer. Thanks for sharing. Totally agree, Stephen. If my engine were vibrating that much in real life, I'd be looking for a safe place to land before it caught fire, or threw a rod.
  13. Universal Translator - yep in Skype

Eff I told you you had a beautiful body, would you hold it against me?
  14. SPAD 11 - WIP

    You are the best.
  15. Anybody knows what's gonna happen in September

Who wants virgins? Experienced women are more fun.
  16. In either my modded installs, or unmodded installs, when I choose to fly a CAS mission, if I choose to edit my CAS flight, like color scheme or something, the mission editor changes the objective point to the first entry in the movement.ini without any input from me, other than selecting the flight in the mission editor. Of course, at the new objective point there is no battle going on, so if I fly the mission, I won't find any friendly, or enemy troops. Has anyone else come across this? As I said, it happens in both modded and unmodded versions of my full five merged install. Ps I'm only patched to July 2012, cause I like it.
  17. F-94C "Starfire" cockpit

Another beautiful cockpit, Stary. I love the fact that it's a 360 degree cockpit.
  18. Grumman F7F Tigercat cockpits pack

This is a thing of beauty, even with bugs. Your cockpits are always amazing, Stary. Thank you.
  19. http://sabresandmigs.com/index.html I was wondering if anyone else here had come across this webpage. It seems to be done on behalf of Lt. Col. Joseph R Clark, but since he would be 91 years old, obviously someone else might have helped to set it up. Anyone have any other information about this webpage, or the books mentioned? Just curious. There's no contact information at the website, so I can't ask them. Heck
  20. Do335. Where did you find that Mig-15bis flight manual translation? I'd be interested in picking it up, especially to read the exact wording of the flight restrictions in the manual. I ask, because every Western pilot I can find today who talks about flying the Mig-15bis, or UTI, including UTIs rebuilt from original 15bis, never mention buffeting, even when flying the aircraft up to Mach .92, where they do talk about "adverse pitch" limitations. If you can point out where you found an English translation of the original Mig-15bis flight manual, I'd appreciate it. All these Western pilots describe the Mig's controls as being "delightful and well harmonized" up to it's mach limitation.
  21. Heck is just an old internet nickname, Colonel. I live in upstate New York, am semi-retired (still have to work a little), and have a Bachelor's degree in English. I'm the person who commented on the "There is Value in Truth" section of your blog. I've had an avid interest in aviation my whole life, especially the Korean Air War. Have you had any luck getting a Publisher to look at your manuscripts? I hope that you do. If you can't, I'd self-publish electronically, like on Kindle, but I don't know if you'd want to go that route. It would be a way to get your story out there, which would benefit everyone's understanding of what really happened in Korea. I have some electronic books about Soviet Pilots, so it is one avenue for information about this overly mythologised war to get out there. Even if you decide not to do that, I'll still be following your blog. Hopefully I'll still be reading it when you're one hundred, although your golf game might suffer a little after ninety-five...
  22. Thank you for posting, Colonel. I meant no insult to you, Sir. Unfortunately, when you find things on the net, you never know their source, or who is actually behind them. It's an unfortunate side effect of the anonymity of the internet. Sometimes I have found unscrupulous people pretending to be what they are not on the net. I visit your site every day to see if you've posted anything new on your experiences in Korea. I was especially interested reading your latest update on your short experience on your tour as part of the 51st's confirmation board. You have one avid follower, at least. I'm sure there are many more. I hope you can find someone to publish your manuscripts. I would immediately add them to my collection of books on the Korean War. Of all the wars in history, the Korean War is the one that seems to best fit Ernst Toller's quote, "History is the propaganda of the Victors." I, for one, am tired of listening to the propaganda of the Korean War, that's why I was so glad to find your site. Thank you again for posting your experiences. I will continue to look for new additions.
  23. Completely agree. Please release it. A beautiful model like that shouldn't be kept on a shelf.
