RF-101J Voodoo (non SF2)
Heck replied to Stratos's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Sci-Fi/Anime/What If Forum
It's what the Voodoo was looking for. It's all part of a new sequel to the movie "The Final Countdown" called "The Really Final Countdown." -
Aircraft skin project - Problem (BLACK texture) - Need Advice
Heck replied to Eagle114th's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
Dumb question, but, is your skin folder named in exactly the same way as your skin's .ini? I typoed one once and got the black skin result because the sim couldn't "find" the skin. One letter was all it took.- 26 replies

History Buffs! I have a question for you. Did Eugene Bullard teach Bessie Coleman?
Heck replied to Skyviper's topic in The Pub
Been looking around, but I can't find any source with citations that mentions these two as knowing each other, or any of the other pilots you mentioned. The only cited sources I can find say she learned at the Caudron School in France. Also, I find no source that mentions Bullard being involved in aviation at the time she was learning to fly, he had become a jazz musician, and was trying to acquire a bistro.- 1 reply

WW2 Screenshots Thread
Heck replied to Wrench's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Screen Shots
With a touch of sadness, I locked my old Battle of Britain terrain into a back up folder, but only a touch, because the new Battle of Britain terrain is absolutely gorgeous. Can you believe the way this looks? -

Need advice on how to save .tga (for image files with transparent)
Heck replied to Eagle114th's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
I create tgas to use as decals in Gimp 2.0 all the time, and never, ever, have problems with them not showing up, unless I have the path wrong, or misname them in an ini. There is something else going on here, not Gimp.- 24 replies

Heck replied to Eagle114th's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
The only difference between your .tgas and Thirdwire's is size. Yours are 39x39 pixels, Thirdwire's are 32x32. I don't know if that's important, or not. I've tried yours in both the mods menu folder, and in the main menu folder, and they don't show up. It might be a size issue, if nothing else.- 24 replies

I never imagined, growing up reading stories of WW1 aviation, that this would wind up being one of my favorite aircraft to fly in simulation. I always thought it would be the Camel. I was wrong...

Chaffeur pour les artilleurs. Probably not a good translation, but it captures the idea behind this plane.

Gorgeous. Thank you for all your hard work.

Your underwater effects really are amazing. -
This is from the SF2 Knowledge base, but it all applies to FE2, because both sims use the same file organization. This is the best place to start learning about how to add things to FE2:

An unfortunate Pfalz... And other campaign shots.

Love the deep water effect. -
I know these screenies seem mundane, but they're all screenshots from one 9/18 campaign mission. I'm definitely having second thoughts about TK's AlbatrosC3? thing though. Have to look into that.
-
If you were new to FE2, you'd have no idea the Albatros in the background is an add on aircraft. And you'd be wondering why you couldn't find it in your drop down list...

This is to all the modders of First Eagles. TK gave us the basis of a WW1 sim. There wasn't much to it when I bought it, all those years ago, for TK is was a change up, I guess, something different from jet sims. Then, the modders here stepped up to the plate and knocked that slow pitch out of the park. As we used to say in my Babe Ruth league, "That one's in the weeds, you ain't gonna find it." Yesterday, I flew my Halberstadt Cl.II over the lines and took out some Schneider CA 1s. This sim is amazing today, and it's all due to the work of the modders. My thanks to you all.
-
When I tried to fly the Breguet, the aircraft didn't show, only the cockpit. In the data.ini change these lines from this: [Fuselage] ModelNodeName=DH4Fuselage ShowFromCockpit=TRUE to this: [Fuselage] ModelNodeName=Fuselage ShowFromCockpit=TRUE and the aircraft will show normally. Thank you for all your work to bring us these models, Von S. Sometimes, working in Thirdwire sims, as much as I love them, can remind me of the old Bugs Bunny cartoon featuring the Gremlin.

Just re-installed FE2 on a system that can do it justice, so this terrain is a definite yes, and thank you for your efforts. It looks fantastic. -

I've been happily dropping staff cars and work trucks into cities and villages all over my maps using Mue's target editor. Great stuff, Stephen. Thank you.
