very nice kkdfos :) This was the a/c that was dreaded by UN ground forces during 1961 Congo operations.Couple of them were destroyed by IAF Canberras during the operations. -

Su-24 is in a WIP by wpnssgt & tomcat1974. Not sure about others. -
Su-27 -in the works by Marcfighter. MiG-29A - in the works by Flying Toaster & Mirage Factory MiG-27 - in the works by wpnssgt But I would love to see the Su-30 in the game, specially the Indian Su-30MKI and as on opponent for the MKI, the Chinese Su-30MKK . MiG-29OVT/35 would be great too, would ove to see it in Indian colours, specially now indications are coming that the MiG-35 could be a sure shot winner in the IAF MRCA deal. and yes a MiG-23/27 cockpit would be great too.

True, but the "F" was very different from the "FL" which the IAF had in 1971. There's an IAF Type 77 MiG-21FL mod available(instead of PFMs). So is a Gnat F.1(instead of the ground attack version, Ajeet). Type S-22 Fitter, by howling1, is configured accurately to represent Indian Su-7s. -

MiG-21Fs were retired well before the 71 war started. MiG-21PFMs were not inservice with the IAF. Su-7 & Type S-22 are the same, S-22 was the name given to it by the IAF. -
View File No.224 Sqdn "Warlords" MiG-23MF Rakshak Skin -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- No.224 Sqdn "Warlords" MiG-23MF Rakshak Skin --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The skin is a repackaged version of Marcelo's excellent IAF skin, which he had made for the earlier Rafael's Flogger. I renamed the files for use with bpao's new MiG-23s,added tail, nose gear and underwing serial numbers(SK401-445), 224 Sqdn Insignia on the nose, and Hazard warning near the engine intake. The skin is configured for use with howling1's IAF MiG-23MF Rakshak mod. The package contains all 45 serial numbers(SK401-445) of Indian AF MiG-23MF "Rakshak"(s). In the early 80s, the IAF had acquired the MF version along with the ground attack BN version - which was all set for license production in India , when the MiG-27M was offered to the IAF and the MiG-27 was license produced instead. A million thanks to Marcelo for allowing me to use his skin. ------------------ Installation: ------------------ You will need howling1's and MIrage Factory's MiG-23MF IAF Rakshak mod.Just drop India folder in Rakshak directory. --------------- Credits: --------------- Marcelo(Marcfighters) for the excellent IAF skin textures, all hard work is his howling1 for the MiG-23MF Rakshak mod Flogger Team for the MiG-23s Mr P V S Jagan Mohan(www.warbirds.in) for the IAF MiG-23MF serial number information. Jug, In case you are interested, the same authors released their book, "Indo-Pak Air War of 1965" last year. It contains some good accounts of missions flown by the IAF during the war.....loved the way the authors neatly explained how PAF's claim that one of their pilots (Sqdn Ldr M M Alam) shot down five hunters in a day was just hot air....it was just propoganda by the PAF.

Dawar and Sinhji were being guided by a Signals Unit, which was supposed to warn them of possible PAF fighters in their area. But for some reason, when the two pilots were nearing Sulaimanke, the Singals Unit's RT went silent. The two pilots took it for granted that it was a safety measure taken by the SU. In a another one of my older books, It is mentioned that Sinhji' bird was hit by AAA, that is why I said the PAF pilot, supposedly shot down the MiG. now if the F-86 was around, why didn't he take a shot at the second MiG??Why did the SU not warn the MiGs of the F-86 on their tail. Why didn't Dawar try and engage the F-86?? These are the some questions that I have, which hopefully will be answered ine thupcoming book "Indo-Pak Air War of 1971". I do agree with your point that a jet driven by a capable pilot can take on advanced jet with a less capable pilot. In the 65 War, a badly wounded IAF pilot(Sqdn Ldr A Devayya) in his badly damaged Mystere IVA managed to shoot down a PAF F-104A before going down with his a/c. he was awarded the Maha Vir Chakra, India's second highest War Medal, posthumously. Similarly an IAF Hunter pilot managed to badly damage a PAF Mirage IIIEP before getting shot down and killed by a F-86. Here's a little extract from No.20 Sqdn's book about a second inident of Mirage getting in trouble with a Hunter.. The sqdn were flying Hunters during the 1971 War.

Correction....The IAF lost only one MiG-21 against an F-86.The Pakistani pilot(Flt Lt M Amir) claimed that he(F-86F) shot down one MiG-21FL(Flt Lt Harish Sinhji). On 4 December 1971, Two MiG-21s were assigned a Fighter Sweep mission over Pakistan. No. 29 Sqdn's Flt Lts Dawar and Sinhji were on the Fighter Sweep mission were near Sulaimanke,Pakistan. Dawar was the leader and Sinhji his wingman. Over Sulaimanke, Dawar put his MiG on a left turn facing west, Sinhji followed, but was hit, supposedly, by an AIM-9 fired by an F-86. Sinhji ejected and was taken a POW. Dawar did not notice his wingman's absence until a few minutes later. He returned to base later. This was the only IAF MiG-21 loss in air to air combat during the war.

Dave, Marcelo(Marcfighter) is doing Flankers which are single seaters(Su-27,Su-33).The Su-30 that he is doing is actually an upgraded Su-27SMK and it has been designated as Su-30KI, which is a single seater. The Su-30 designation has been assigned to twin seater multi-role fighter variant of the Su-27. No one's working one the twin seater Su-30 model i.e. Su-30K/MK/MKI/MKK/MKM yet.

Help!!!
ghostrider883 replied to gerald14's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Great to see the Arjun MBT WIP. Thanks for building it :) Sadly, It has neither lived up to its name nor its advertised capabilities. -
The Su-30MKI was custom made for the IAF and it ha components from India, France and Israel. As the Indian President said after his sortie on the Su-30MKI, that the Flanker has Russian heart(Engines) but Indian brain(mission computers). As for the varying stats, that's because the Su-30MKI in service with the Indian AF have been constantly upgraded. The Block I machines had full A2A and limited ground attack capability, The Block II and Block III upgraded gave the Su-30MKI the ability to fire Precision guided bombs and missiles(Kh-31 & Kh-35). The Malaysians have Su-30MKMs on order, which are similar to Su-30MKI
