  1. Take your time. I've been waiting a lot of years for a replacement for "Fleet Defender". I can wait a bit longer.
  2. Harry Morgan Dead at 96

The man always looked like he was having fun with every part he played. While I liked him as Col. Potter I STILL get a real kick out of him as the crazy Major General Steele earlier in the series.
  3. I know what I want for Christmas

I'd be afraid to ever fly the silly thing....
  4. Apache Air Assault

    Any DRM to speak of?
  5. For good or ill, I always try to leave the "stock" mod folders as is and create new folders specifically for modded installs. It is easy enough to do and it seems to avoid this type of issue. Keep in mind......TK has given us a sim that is very, very easy to mod but he can't be expected to support all the various mods out there (and keep the price reasonable). I don't have an issue with the idea that you mod a stock aircaft in a stock mod folder at your own risk. Yes, I need to re-copy a handful of EXEs when I put a patch on but that is far easier that worrying about what INIs were touched in my stock mods folder(s).
  6. Running stuff is not often as hard as INSTALLING the stuff. I had to muck about with IL-2 to get in installed but once past that it runs like a champ. In general I've had better luck with Win 7 than I expected. Of the ones you listed I think you'll be fine. You may just have to bypass the IL2 "install menu" and to straight the the setup.exe. You should not have to muck with XP mode.
  7. This only happens with SF2??? It sounds like malware/virus to me. I've had some popups that would not die and invariably they were some sort of bad software. What anti-virus are you running?
  8. Not sure but did you verify the mod is for the your version of Lock On?
  9. Is there any way we could start a combatace.com IL-2 online club?
  10. And it's available cheap at www.gog.com if you don't have it and are interested.
  11. I consider it my virtual WWII aircraft museum. I can fly aircraft in IL-2 that I cannot fly anywhere else. While the FMs may not be perfect, they are pretty darned good. Flying a simulated B-25 or PE-2 mission is a treat for an aviation buff like myself. I know a lot of folks are working to make SF2 a good WWII sim but they have a long way to go to get to IL-2 and, of course, there are some WWII mods unavailable to the unworthy like myself.
  12. AH-64 Package for SF2 Ver 1.1

Always loved this ship. Thanks much, Dels! I'm glad I'm taking Friday off......
  13. Flyable A-1H/J Skyraider for SF2V Ver 1.0

I don't even need to download it to say,,,,, YOU DA MAN! Thanks for your efforts.
  14. You have to love the music, too. Nice work.
  15. One issue will be the fact that the DS terrain references the GermanyCE.CAT file. That may give you some grief. I think it will run but you will be missing terrain objects. You may be able to modify the DS terrain INIs to use the Israel terrain CAT file but I'm not sure how well that would work.
  16. GoodOldGames hit 6 million downloads

Agreed. GoG is one of the few places that gets my gaming dollars these days. Thirdwire is another, of course.
  17. Falcon BMS 4.0 is up!

HINT. Click on the blue arrow at the Vets site. The BLUE ARROW. The BLUE ARROW.......
  18. Just as a exercise in modding I am trying to bring the AT-6D from the SF1 Korean War Mod over to SF2. I've had excellent luck porting other SF1 aircraft but I cannot for the life of me figure out why I cannot get the textures to display correctly or the decals to show up. It should be using stock decals as there is no D folder in the original aircraft config structure. Here is the decal.ini [Decal001] MeshName=Fuselage DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=RIGHT FilenameFormat= Position=-0.0,-0.0 Rotation=0.0 Scale=1 [Decal002] MeshName=Fuselage DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=LEFT FilenameFormat= Position=-0.0,-0.0 Rotation=0.0 Scale=1 [Decal003] MeshName=Tail DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=RIGHT FilenameFormat=Insignia Position=-3.0,-0.0 Rotation=0.0 Scale=1.5 [Decal004] MeshName=Tail DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=LEFT FilenameFormat=Insignia Position=-3.0,-0.0 Rotation=0.0 Scale=1.5 [Decal005] MeshName=LeftWing DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=TOP FilenameFormat=Insignia Position=-4,-0.0 Rotation=8.0 Scale=1.4 [Decal006] MeshName=RightWing DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=BOTTOM FilenameFormat=Insignia Position=4,-0.0 Rotation=8.0 Scale=1.4 [Decal007] MeshName=LeftWing DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=BOTTOM FilenameFormat=NationName Position=-4,0.0 Rotation=-8.0 Scale=2.0 [Decal008] MeshName=RightWing DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=TOP FilenameFormat=NationName Position=4,0.0 Rotation=-8.0 Scale=2.0 I know the fuselage decal statement specifies a null file but the fuselage insignia is actually attached to the tail mesh. Seems to work fine in SF1.
  19. Sheesh. Ok. I'll try that (and the new one.) Thanks, Wrench.
  20. I Don't Know Anymore Which is the Best WWI Sim!

ANY game that requires online activation will not get my vote. I've been burned once and it will never happen again. I went with FE2. It's just a solid, fun sim. I am about ready to give OFF a try as I have a new rig that runs CFS3 well. I'll look at ROF if and when it goes on sale on GOG DRM free.
  21. XP and DirectX 10

Hmmmm. This just looks a little too good to be true. I stopped when I saw the Russian FAQs. (I downloaded it on my "trash" virtual XP machine just to be safe.) Might be OK but it looks like a "crack" of DX10 to me. Not sure I want to go there. YMMV..... Let us know how you get on.
  22. It might depend on which cockpit they use. If they use the Netz cockpit from WOI you will need WOI or grab an F-16 cockpit from somewhere else.
  23. It sound a lot like you are running an exe that was not properly updated with a patch. I have a similar issue with my "custom" exes when I do an update. I need to make sure I recreate the custom exes from a new patched exe to get any of them to work. What is the name of the EXE file you are trying to start?
