As a recovering model builder I am just a little envious. Very impressive. The takeoffs and landings are very well done.

Geez. You guys are no fun. Next you'll be telling me Santa Claus doesn't exist. (How would NORAD track him if he didn't exist, HUH? HUH?)

I prefer dosbox over native dos for most games given it's a bit of a pain doing all the old dox memory dances as well as joystick and sound card support. With the rigs these days most dosbox based games run just fine. I still love F-15 Strike Eagle II (yes, I said II (two, 2, dos)) and F-117 Stealth Fighter from Microprose. Age of Rifles still can't be beat. I recently got Star Trek The Next Generation - A Final Unity installed under dosbox. Looks danged good for as old as it is. I run Win98 under a VM just so I can play the Great Battles Series from iMagic. (The game's got a weird glitch under XP and higher where the right mouse click commands don't work..) And then I found Good Old Games. OMG......www.gog.com

I'm a doofus. I STILL don't watch it.

I use it to chat with my game producer in Germany (I'm in Omaha, NE). It is simple and gets the job done. I like the Web based ICQ as I can use it at work without installing additional software. That being said, we also use Facebook chat and while we've never used it to meet we both have Skype. I signed up with Skype after I dropped my land line. Great way to make work related phone calls (I'm at the computer already.....) and saves cell minutes.

As a card carrying space geek I am also sad that an era has ended. We cannot lose sight of the fact that in the big scheme of things this is a very small, very fragile planet. I firmly believe our future demands we look beyond this rock. I told you I was a geek. -
CH Products for SF2?
DoctorQuest replied to famine's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
They will be prying my CH stick and throttle from my cold, dead hands. -
This is good info. I have and really like FS2004 and just have not seen a real reason to go with FSX (assuming it would run on my rig in the first place.) I have purchased a few addons for FS2004 but the majority of my addons are freeware and are of excellent quality.

Congratulations and thanks for your service. Have fun with the next phase of your life.

Jazz and classic because I can listen to it on public radio. No stupid commercials. This sounds lame but basically I like it if it's got a beat and you can dance to it. I prefer percussion based music as opposed to ballads, for instance. So I tend to cross a lot of genres. I really like Blue Man Group. I listen to Hearts of Space just about every week. Now that's some eclectic stuff. Do not really like folk music. A bit on the pretentious side if you ask me. And, of course......

Which game to buy
DoctorQuest replied to TSgtT's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Agree with SF2E+EXP2 for STARTERS. It will keep you busy while you save your pennies for the next installment. :) -

For good or ill language evolves and the N-word did not evolve in a good way. It was either rename the dog or have a paragraph at the start of the movie explaining the dog's name. I appreciate the post. I have read the book many times and really got tripped up over the name of the dog. I had no idea about the orgins of the word. Let's hope this is the only change they have to make to the story.

SF2/Win7 install
DoctorQuest replied to eightlein's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Run the TW installer as normal. The tricky bit is that all mods and customized files need to go in your \Users\*username*\Saved Games\ folder. Substitute *username* with your Win 7 user name. The SF2 games have been built by TW to install and run under Vista and Win 7. I also direct my installs to a GAMES folder but I don't think that's required. You can let the installer default and I think you'll be fine.
