I missed that discussion. I appreciate the "news". :) Thanks, Alexis! -
Newbe Question New to SF2 series.
DoctorQuest replied to sixstrings's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
The Knowledge Base has a lot of information that you might find useful. https://combatace.com/forums/forum/268-thirdwire-strike-fighters-2-series-knowledge-base/ I would start with the 'What is a "MOD folder"?' topic. I'm not quite sure what you mean by DLC package? Most of the DLCs should have some packaged as standalone EXE files the you install the same way you install the SF2 programs. Double click the EXE files and follow the prompts. What version(s) of SF2 did you purchase? -
Falcon BMS 4.37 VR READY "and Beyond" Trailer 4K
DoctorQuest replied to MigBuster's topic in General Flight Sim Discussion
I think it is a legitimate licensing issue with Tommo who owns Falcon 4.0. I don't see the big deal. F4 is on sale for $5 USD at GOG right now. -

DoctorQuest replied to MigBuster's topic in General Flight Sim Discussion
Correct, you no longer need a disc. You just need a proper EXE. Works like a charm. You can get Falcon 4.0 at GOG for a song. -
help Creating a .CAT file with a folder.
DoctorQuest replied to Lolmin2908's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
And I would think there is some processing efficiency gained by packing files into a CAT. Whether it is worth it is an entirely different question. Would ODS load faster if some of the larger components were packed into CAT files rather than existing as discrete files in a folder? I really don't know. I also don't know how a CAT file would be viewed by the game if it existed in a mod folder. I think it was a legit question. -

I'm in. Thanks for the heads up! -
I have an ASUS that runs WIN10, WIN7 and WinXP. It was really designed for Win7/Vista and it has a few issues with WIN10. I have Win7 around for some games and WinXP for recording streams off the internet. My main gaming rig is a Dell G5. It only runs WIN10. Yes. I am a nerd.

Fair point. :)

Ok. When will the SF2 mod of this be done! Two weeks? (I really wish I had the talent and skills and software to do this. I would.........................) I agree with Sokol, though. I have always struggled with what we need for defense and what we need to spend on defense.

Road map
DoctorQuest replied to GKABS's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
Agreed. It is basically a modified F-15E Strike Eagle. I have not done a ton of research but loadout and avionics are probably the long poles in the tent. -

DoctorQuest replied to GKABS's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
I don't think it would be a huge effort but an F-15EX would be cool. -
Or come to Nebraska and we'll hit the SAC Museum!

Editing Campaign Missions
DoctorQuest replied to cuisinart8's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mission & Campaign Building Discussion
I assume you are talking SF2. You can save a campaign mission at mission completion. Easiest thing is to open the campaign, start a mission and hit Esc to end the mission. You should see a floppy disc icon that you can click to save the mission. That mission should be ready for edit by mission editor or simply notepad. -
Yup. All good here as well. Sorry I can't do more at the moment. Keep up the good work!

I just saw this. Thank you very much. I wondered what had happened. I do owe the site a new subscription so stand by in the next few weeks.
-
I've been a long time supporter here. Is there a subscription level that removes the progressively move NSFW ads that seem to accumulate on the site? I get it. It costs money to run the place. But I really need to ask the question. I'm not sure I would let my kids browse here. I love what you guys do but I don't seem to remember this problem with ads from years past. Thanks.
-
^Agreed! You could give everyone a free "banned from ATEAM" sig block!!!! I am very proud of mine. Seriously I don't think it's a bad idea, either. I am already planning to update by subscription after I pay off my AC repair. My significant other has much more patience with my flightsiming if the house is comfortable.

I understand, Erik. Thank you for taking the time to explain. Curious to know what effect using blocking tools like Nightshade's suggestions has on Google's feedback on the CA ad usage.
-
I have continually reported ads and it seems to no avail. Honestly the ones that burn me are the "Would you vote for Trump a third time?" ones. :) I have NO idea how I would be tagged for those by Google. I will see what I can do on my end. This site is WAY too valuable to me to get put off by something outside the admins control. (I am due for a re-up of my subscription but I need to get past some real life issues first.) Thanks for the prompt responses. I do appreciate it.

I have been a supporter for about a year now and I am looking forward to the finished product. The fact that Steel Beasts is the only modern tank sim available these days is depressing. It is overpriced, overblown and nothing I want to get involved with. I am planning to renew my support and stick with the project until complete. Supporters do get a more full featured demo and the updates have been coming out at a nice pace.
