Tu-360

Did your reference information show two bomb bays of that size? I'm thinking that the fuel requirements such an airplane would limit the payload to something smaller than that. I do have a tip though, based on the speed this plane was to fly, the bomb bay would probably use the sliding doors like mentioned earlier and employ an ejection mechanism to make sure that a bomb/missile is propelled downward sufficiently to clear the airframe. Sucking a missile into an engine inlet at those Mach numbers would be ugly...lol. Don't get me wrong, it looks very cool and will be neat to fly. Keep up the good work. -

Go for it! Intercepting this would be interesting to say the least...I think we would need to have a YF-12 to at least have a chance. -

Cool! This will be neat to fly in the game, even if there isn't much to do in a recon mission (other than dodging SAMs and outrunning MiGs...lol). -

Nice to see that plane modeled so far along! -
strange weapon

Very cool! This will be interesting to use. It is a great model, though I just want to give a friendly reminder not to forget the rear support that connected close to the tail wheel of the Fw-190. -

Cool, good work turning out so many new models in a short amount of time! -

I've experienced this too, it is the whole missile that is invisible when playing a mission. It doesn't happen all the time, but sometimes it is like the game fails to "see" the .lod and gives you invisible ordnance. -
I know this would be fairly obscure, but it would be interesting to have some of the specialty weapons and conversions of aircraft into guided weapons that occurred during WWII. Specifically, I am thinking of the "Mistel" combination which used either a Fw-190 or a Bf-109 to guide a converted Ju-88 that had a large warhead in place of the crew compartment. Functionally, in the game a revised 3-D model of the Ju-88 could be attached to the fighter as any bomb would and the correct explosive mass given to it, though the only unrealistic part would be the weight of the "bomb" since the game would only let it carried by the mother plane and not assist in flying. It is just an idea to see if anybody is interested in these weapons. http://greyfalcon.us/restored/Junkers%20Ju%2088.htm

View File UFO model (unfinished) Dec. 20th, 2007 To the CombatAce community, This is a selection of files for the 220ft diameter flying saucer that I recently constructed, but do not have the time or experience to fully complete. Please feel free to use and/or improve upon this model and release it with your own skin, flight model, etc. for the rest of the community to download and use. This may not be used in any payware and, if you do post a mod using this, I ask for credit to be given for the original model. Included are the .lod and shadow files I was using for my basic tests in Wings Over Vietnam, though to most people they will probably not be that useful: the windows did not appear (texture not assigned?) and I did not do any UV mapping, so there is no basis for a skin yet. With that in mind, I am supplying the last 3D Studio MAX 9 file I made ("flyingsaucer-lodready") and an FBX file. The reference for this UFO model was a diagram from an old 1/48th scale model kit made by Testors, the only real significant change that I made was the presence of eight windows in four groups instead of six evenly spaced ones on the upper deck. Thank you and have fun continuing where I left off, Matt K. (USAAF2) mckdmb@mst.edu Submitter USAAF2 Submitted 12/21/2007 Category Fictional Aircraft, Experimental and UAV's

Well, due to real life taking precedence with my time and my general inexperience at this, I thought it best to give the modding community the files that I started on. The 3d studio max 9 file and the test .lod that I was using for screenshots are now available for somebody to continue work on: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autom...p;showfile=5700 I would really like to see someone finish this, thanks! As long as the final project can hover when thrust vectoring and land vertically on the belly plate, go at least as fast as the Mig-31 Firefox, still turn like a fighter at slower speeds, have a laser cannon, dark tinted windows, and a shiny silver paint job it is okay by me. lol, that was what I had in mind for it - add what you want to the model, but please just keep the basic external appearance the same. Have fun!!

Not sure, I've got 29 days left on my trial of 3D Studio 9. I am at a standstill right now though, the UV Mapping process is very tedious for me and I don't know that much about the materials and textures (like the reason for my windows vanishing?) If somebody wants to help, they are more than welcome. I really need a flight model and a skin done for it. Right now I am just borrowing bits and pieces from other planes' FMs for my own testing, and I don't think I can really post that because of all the borrowed material.

Well, I originally started on an aircraft project and promptly realized how time consuming and difficult that can become. So I then changed gears and made this completely fictitous, but quite fun project. These F-106 pilots sure got a surprise.... :-) I will try to cobble together a flight model for it, but if not I will release the .lod and a skin template for somebody who wants to put the finishing touches on it. I gave it a diameter of 220ft, so it is a pretty large air to air target. Thanks again to the people who helped me work out using 3D Studio. Edit: This will also be perfect for the laser beam "cannon" that was recently shown on the forum.

I'll try that, I do have one awfully large composite shape that should probably be broken up. As of right now, the largest mesh has 9941 vertices, which is probably somewhat ridiculous. There are 4 smaller objects of 233 vertices attached to it. Edit: Thanks again, I'll do some changes and hopefully fix it now.
